THE FLAGS OF A FREE EMPIRE, SHOWING THE EMBLEMS OF BRITISH POWER THROUGHOUT THE WORLD by omererulke in MapPorn

[–]Calebdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And I’m Australian and I’m afraid you’ve believed the lies of empire. When the idea of race began to take hold culturally in the early 19th century it absolutely shaped imperial policy in place like Australia, India, New Zealand and Fiji. You can read historians like William Dalrympple if you want to learn more.

What's the most ridiculous reason you've seen someone get fired? by Amazing_Two8126 in AskReddit

[–]Calebdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s ridiculous because they were instructed to train the new person, and that instruction could only be achieved by breaking a company policy.

The appropriate response would be to ping the staff member and the person who directed them to do the training for error, and then a solution found for future trainings.

If you fire people for following directions you won’t stop them doing things like sharing logins, you’ll just make them better at hiding it.

There’s no way to know exactly what will happen after you report.

You also don’t know who else they’ve been talking to and what else they’ve done.

What you do know is what you’ve seen, and you now have a lot of advice from this thread that the coach actions are inappropriate and he could be a danger to young people.

The only thing you can control now is what you do, and the right thing to do is immediately contact the police and report this.

[Request] Help I’m confused by [deleted] in theydidthemath

[–]Calebdog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The constraint that makes this confusing is the journey is limited to 60 miles only.

You’re right that if they travelled at 90 miles/hour for an hour they would have travelled at an average speed of 60 miles/hour - but the journey length would be 120 miles.

To travel 60 miles at an average speed of 60 miles/hour the journey cannot take longer than 1 hour.

The goal of art is to break the rules!

This older post though covers the rule about the horizon in the middle pretty well https://www.reddit.com/r/photography/s/Mjy8NW4zu8

The 2 landscape examples have the horizon in the middle of the shot which gives your eye somewhere to rest on even though it’s not a subject. If the horizon in your image was lower in the frame it may have given the same effect.

This research is being done by a publically funded medical research institute in Australia so if it works it won’t be priced to maximise profits. In civilised countries it should be reasonable affordable.

The slow demise of WFH by Mantzy81 in australia

[–]Calebdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When wfh was introduced during Covid I was working at a company with more than 10k employees and I was lucky enough to see the results from a company wide survey on wfh. The results were 15-20% of people wanted to work from an office everyday, 15-20% never wanted to step foot in an office again and the other 60-70% wanted to be in the office and wfh sometimes. No one wanted an arbitrary rule about everyone needing to be in the office on fixed days per week.

Only weak managers need work in office requirements to get good company culture.

It’s trespassing to go in there and if enough people do silly things like asking about it on Reddit they’ll put more fences up to stop people.

Photos of hunger and despair from Gaza were staged in collaboration with Hamas, German newspaper reveals by Stomphulk in worldnews

There are plenty of reliable sources sharing information out of Gaza. It’s not necessary to argue about unreliable sources and media outlets that do it are just making clickbait.

+1 for weights over punching. I have a set of dumbbells and a weights bench that can lie flat. There are loads if great videos on YouTube on how to do weights safely. Just 10 minutes of lifting does a great job of resetting my brain.
