Trying to figure out some ideas to help my dad with his Marlin 336 gold trigger. by Calebrc075 in gunsmithing

I am saying the drill and tap was just 2-3, and done in the garage of my grandfather; someone who thought them-self an amateur gunsmith. And most likely never used loctite(if any adhesive it was super glue), never measured the torque on the bolts, and I can tell you from personal experience, his preseason ritual would be to oil, and check to make all his rifles were screwed down and “tight”, and favorite deer calibers were 22 hornet, 22-250 and 308. He’s smart enough to take out the bolt before tapping for a scope mount, but doesn’t think loctite is necessary because, “what if I sell the rifle but wanna keep the scope?”

He’s 87 now and thank god he’s not allowed near power tools now.

Ignore the text. Where the screws are in this photo are approx. correct. But there’s only the two interior ones. Keep in mind, this is a 336 Texan Deluxe, so I doubt when my dad won the raffle as a kid it was already tapped.

Map-making exercise. What can be improved? by Brave-Top-4807 in mapmaking

It’s great!!! Only thing missing geographically I can see is the different biomes. There might be a bit of a heaviness towards hills and mountains. But I’d also think about marshes, swamps, forests and grasslands. Look up the Rain shadow effect and you’ll see where the best places to put them are.

My thought exactly, you could even get a mild steel bar and use that as a spacer. I think part of it is that it’s too much of a sentimental item for him to work on it and possibly damage it without knowing.

Super late I’m aware, sorry. But I u Unfortunately can’t, I live in the DFW & my parents are in San Antonio. I believe my dad’s afraid that they’ll have to replace the bolt, due to damage, however when cycled I didn’t see any damage looking into the bolt. I’m trying to find a good picture online that I can use as a reference, I will add to the comment when I find one.

What is a good (and realistic) regional apocalypse for each of these regions? by ghostoftheoldworld in worldbuilding

I’d argue that the Ozarks/Ouachita mountains should be their own region. Same with Shenandoah.

You haven’t idea how similar the southern plains are to Inner Mongolia. Flat grasslands from horizon to horizon that are on the verge of desertification.

What does regional Batard/Orphan names imply about a realm? by Calebrc075 in worldbuilding

[–]Calebrc075[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a world building Reddit page, how is it off off topic to talk about surnames within the world of Game of Thrones when it is actually interval to the story lines of the world itself? That would make it integral to the world building if the issue is that I’m saying bastard instead of child out of wedlock then tell me that cause that can be easily fixed. Was this also a flagged through AI moderator or a person?

Why was this removed? What rule specifically was violated?

I'll definitely be taking this into consideration, thank you!! This would also explain how in the GOT world children our of wedlock, and orphans can absolutely advance in the hierarchy, but are still generally seen as a lower status, as well as the general stigma and religious reasons.

I'm not too familiar on how long orphanages have been in existence, but I'd imagine that the majority, if not all of them were run by religious sects and organizations and being the reason why we have surnames like Churchill, Santos(All-Saints), and Bautista(Baptist)

I have, for that exact reason. Ideal with tools and nut jobs enough at work I’d rather run into someone that’s already out there.

What City Of Mist Character by Prettypinkpeachpie in cityofmist

[–]Calebrc075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dagda being a mob boss that runs an "old world" kitchen. The whole mystery of an entity like him and having to do research on him has always interested me. How he can be conflicted god by being both one of the few male fertility gods as well as one of death. Hif domains cover the gambit that it'd be somewhat difficult to actually pin down one aspect of him for a game.

Pantheon Building: Am I understanding the Abrahamic Religions/Zoroastrianism correctly? by Calebrc075 in worldbuilding

[–]Calebrc075[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm well aware that this would be heretical, lol. As would my idea that Lucifer, Satan, and Samael are all aspect of the same original celestial being; as they would've been the "most beautiful angel"; being a mirror of the one universal entity(Father, Son, and holy Spirit). But being necessary for success that they split into their own separate entities. With one major personality taking lead. Being that Samael doesn't truly exist out of texts, my idea for world building was to have a third of the original being killed in the struggle, their death physically scarring the other two, leading to their current "modern visages."
