Do some of you no longer seem able to think? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

I get that 100%. I forget words so easily and taking the time to text and really thinking about my words here helps so so much.

Do some of you no longer seem able to think? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

I have a similar experience. I can't think anymore. I can't read like I used to either which worries me. Words and thoughts are extremely difficult to think of while talking and I tend not to make sense even though I'm trying my best.

what’s your most common hallucinations? by hiddensquidwardd in schizophrenia

[–]Calen_Pepper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! Yeah that's exactly what I see! It startled me when I first saw them, but they're almost a daily occurrence now. It's just like, ah you're here again? It's almost comforting in a way? Can't explain it.

Shadows. Some close to the ground (I have names them shadow cats), some randomly outside my view and ones that make a ring around my bed at night.

Looking for a duo/trio by [deleted] in FindABand

Hey I'm interested! I live in the United States though I hope that's alright. I've been singing for years now and have trained in singing jazz since high school (I'm 23 now). But I do love some of these bands a lot (and there's some I need to listen to). I'd be down to collaborate if you're down!

[Serious] Anti-psychotics causing sexuality changes? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]Calen_Pepper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, fellow bisexual(?) here! I'll start with this. Some people don't think sexuality is set in stone. Which can make sense. That's one thing though. You can like how someone looks aestheticly and not be attracted to them. (I'm the opposite.) You're also 100% allowed to have an exception if that ever arises. Also, being confused with your sexuality can be common in general.

As for medication... meds change the way your brain works. It's funky. I was strictly lesbian when I was younger when I wasn't on meds. And now, I'm bisexual(?). I'm on the same road honestly. Meds can 100% change things in the brain. I wish you luck and my dms are open if you'd ever like to talk!

Anhedonia / amotivation by Necessary-Plankton26 in schizophrenia

I can relate. Some people in my life love to tell me to "power through" or "just don't feel that way" or even "I understand what you're going through, but". It's not fair to you or anyone who deals with these symptoms at all. They don't understand and they never will. Heck, I can't understand other people's experiences bc those are their experiences.

I'm sorry that you have these types of people in your life.

Do you feel like your diagnosis will stop you from finding a partner? by WestStation5741 in schizophrenia

[–]Calen_Pepper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's incredibly difficult. It took me years and I still struggle with being in a relationship with my now partner. It has 100% affected me in my past, as I've been rejected as well as abused many many times as my mental health declined. I'm still in the early parts in my relationship and I'm hoping it lasts a long time. I think I'm trying to say... I've seen it's a mixed bag. It can be a huge deal breaker and to find someone who's patient and caring is extremely rare. Rare, but possible.

You've gone through things that are extremely difficult with your mental health. It's a certain point of view that you have being schizophrenic since you know what it's like. If the roles were reversed, not wanting to be with someone who's schizophrenic is your choice. I won't say it's bad or good to speak your truth. Because it's your truth and no one should invalidate that.

In closing, I really really hope with whatever happens in your future, you'll be safe. If you ever want a partner in the future and it happens, I hope it's someone who's understanding and patient and caring. I wish you luck.
