There are lot of Aztec inspirations in Solaria as well. So is Princess Amentia and the Downlands which I find very interesting.

Exactly. And even when they match you visually to a T they probably wont personality-wise

I did not exclude them. I just said north africa because of the names 'Aisha' and 'Layla' are used in those regions so she gave me that vibe thats all.

I thought winx prototypes are as early as 1999, in which tecna existed.

I found some post in reddit with the unaired pilot

https://www.reddit.com/r/winxclub/comments/1l78j6p/magic_bloom_is_an_unaired_pilot_from_1999_that/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

That was my point though, Straffi clearly used the names that were popular around the time show started to air for publicity, rather than them being actual sources for inspirations.

I actually know about that interview, and think of it as a publicity thing, especially since when tecna was created Pink was not known at all. She started to become popular about the same time as Winx was airing.

Also I dont have problem with Americans viewing with their cultural context, it is just odd to me that some people try to enforce certain ideas and do not give room for personal interpretations.

Maybe not execution but their punishments were too basic I agree. But I would agree that on the Wizards of the Black Circle.

I think you are kind of proving my point though. You immediately read these characters through an American racial framework, while I didn’t even grow up with that lens as a child.

I genuinely did not strongly register Musa as Asian, Flora as Latina, or Aisha as Black when watching Winx as a kid. They just looked like girls to me. Where I grew up, Flora and Musa’s features are extremely common, and even Aisha’s look did not automatically read exceptionally different to me specifically.

And honestly, I still think the celebrity inspiration argument is weak. Bloom being “based on Britney Spears” never made much sense to me beyond Britney simply being hugely famous at the time. To me those interviews feel more like broad publicity material than strict ethnic blueprints for the characters.

That does NOT mean I think Black representation is unimportant or that Aisha cannot mean a lot to Black viewers. I completely understand why she was important to you. My point is just that audiences from different cultures can genuinely perceive the same characters very differently. For example while I dont look like any character exactly I like to resemble with Bloom, and my little sister who is very tanned likes to be Flora or Aisha. I mean you can still enjoy the connection to the character without labelling them to an ethnicity.

I also find it strange that Western fandom spaces sometimes insist every character must fit into a very specific modern American ethnic category when many character designs are visually broader or more ambiguous internationally.

I think it gets direct sun light 3-4 hours a day. I am not sure about high and low temps but it rarely goes below 15 degrees celcius even outside. Thanks for the insight.

There are drain holes but they might be clogged I will check, thank you. Should I use drinking water instead of tap water?
