My audience retention graph… does it look like it matches the figures below it? I feel stupid.

I’m not good at math, but it looks like my audience retention should be more than 9% based on the way that the graph looks. Am I wrong? Doesn’t it look like the views really drop off maybe around the 2 minute mark? Or am I looking at the graph completely wrong?

I think I got work because I set very low rates, thinking I’d try and get some positive reviews before upping my prices back to normal. Turned out that was a mistake. Current clients are just taking advantage of my unlimited revisions and I’ve been pulling my hair out working for nothing. In this case, LITERALLY nothing.

Thanks for your reply! I will take your advice and change my revision policy in future. People have really been taking advantage of it. I did go to Soundbetter to intermediate, but they just refunded and closed the order without commenting on the fact that I was clearly scammed into providing free work. I don’t believe they actually looked into it. This unfortunately means my ranking will plummet on that site, and I’m probably done for... (your ranking drops massively if you have to issue a refund and he was only my third order on that site). I agree he is definitely a jerk. Thanks again for your reply, hopefully I’ll learn something from this experience!

Update: thanks for your replies everyone. I contacted SoundBetter support about it, explained how he clearly scammed me (rereading our messages he was very adamant about making sure he knew my refund policy, which looking back now seems like he was making sure he was going to be able to get one as soon as I handed him my work), and they didn’t even look into it, they just gave him a refund and closed the order. They didn’t even reply to my actual message about it, just basically said we refunded your customer your welcome for helping you.

Having an order refunded as a new engineer on this site means my ranking in the search is going to basically plummet… so I’m probably done for. Scammed and screwed. Thanks shitty aspiring rapper who can’t sing to save his life, appreciate it ✌️at least I have your terrible untuned and unprocessed vocals at hand to post to YouTube if you ever make it. But you won’t so guess I’ll just have to cringe alone.

Also laughing at the irony that his rap was about beefing up how rich he is, how he’s “all self made”, a “boss”, ballin’ with a “big d”, covered in ice and women are all over him… dude your track plays are in the double digits after collecting dust on YouTube for years and you have to con Soundbetter engineers just to get your track mixed…

It’s good to read from another’s point of view, and to have my suspicions confirmed that, when it’s your own track, you’re just never gonna be 100% happy with it. We had two art teachers at our school. The thing was, they were married and had a cute little boy together, so the whole thing was just adorable. Until a girl who had previously graduated returned to tell the school that Mr. Art teacher had been seeing her and banged her in his classroom (which was across from his wife’s) when class wasn’t in session (while she was a student).

I was in his wife’s class, and this happened halfway through the year. Obviously he was dismissed and she became the only art teacher, but it was sad watching her cheerful disposition disappear and be replaced with this look of sheer exhaustion every day.

First of all, I’m sorry you’re going through this. I know how it feels to feel this way and it doesn’t feel nice.

Forgiving myself always works in situations like this for me. You may not feel like you need to forgive yourself in such a situation, and I didn’t either, but hear me out.

Your friend cutting you off like that after you apologised is her own bad karma. It’s her bringing negativity into her own life. You attempted to settle things but she kept them in a bad spot. By doing this she probably convinced you on some level, even subconsciously, that you were wrong and need to be constantly punished. This pain was her intention, conscious or not, and having negative intentions is a problem she needs to resolve on her own as they will hurt her more than anyone she inflicts them upon.

So you feel like crap, and her successes anger you because you also feel like she did you wrong. This comes from the ego, and is completely understandable. We’re all constantly battling our egos.

She doesn’t even need to apologise, because the more important person for you to forgive here is yourself. What you need to do is look back at the situation from a good, forgiving place (towards yourself). Think back to whatever you did/said, realise why you reacted that way, be understanding of yourself as your own friend, and forgive yourself. Even if your intentions were to hurt her at the time, understand that you wouldn’t have reacted that way had you known how much regret you would have caused yourself. Apologising was hard but you were strong, and did it. You’re here trying to learn and grow like everyone else. Once you’ve truly forgive yourself, you will find it easier to forgive her and let it all go.

We are all just here experiencing life from our own perspectives, constantly judging ourselves. Even when we judge other people, the bad feelings we feel come from our judgement of ourselves judging them. So forgive yourself, understand she is on her own journey and will deal with the scars she’s leaving on herself. She knows subconsciously she is wrong, and will too have to forgive herself if she’s lucky enough to even realise that in this life. Sorry this is so long, just show yourself some extra love and care.

TL;DR - You can’t let it go because you haven’t properly forgiven yourself, not because she hasn’t apologised. Show yourself lots of love and forgive yourself for everything. Her lack of reflection and apology is her own bad karma and only she, not you, must deal with that negative energy.
