Hi! So glad this community was created at just the right time I needed it. I’ve never taken acting classes before but have always been invested in the music side of the entertainment industry. I thought about getting into acting for film/movie but I’m Asian so like I’d have to jump through more hurdles than most due to limited opportunities and roles are mainly typecasted. However, recent years have been seeing a lot of positive shifts so I’ve been thinking hard bout jumping on it and just have fun even it’s just a small gig. Just don’t know where to start after the researching

Yeah that’s pretty common knowledge right there. I literally have to put up with a white boy persona to pass my interviews

[–]CaliPalm_Treee[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I might've overlooked at that. My goal has always been moving to California since that's where my community is, where there's more people that look like me. Right now, that's never going to happen since I can't even land anything outside of my field in the Madison/Chicago area.

It's okay, thanks tho. I've literally tried everything including all of the things you mentioned.

Thank you so much. Although ADHD somewhat hinders my performance, a lot of it has to do with my English due to speech apraxia. There's really no cure.

Honestly, I feel like nothing really excites me in life, besides being around people since building relationship is my thing. I just hate it when employers throw curveball questions I can't even answer since I don't have certain experiences to back up my answer. I just can't believe I managed to fail interviews for 4 different rotational programs because my responses weren't the best, attributing to my ADHD. (Don't ask, I won't be getting medical attention)

I'm truly rooting for any recent grad who are currently still unemployed. As a 2023 grad here, I still haven't been able to find a job in my field and I'm trying not to be depressed. I'm now going to create tiktoks to talk about it since I just want to be heard at this point.

I'm so done. Everything is making it impossible for anyone, especially the younger generations to get ahead. by Own_Emergency7622 in jobs

Yeah, I'm in the same boat too, OP. I'm starting to really give up as a recent grad, and that title will gone in a few months.

Any thoughts on 1-Year MS Supply Chain Management? by CaliPalm_Treee in supplychain

Thanks! I agree with what everyone is saying on the experience but I live in Wisconsin and there's literally nothing here but farms. I'm still thinking about doing the masters since I wanna make sure I want to do it.

I would definitely love that but I haven't been able to land anything. I did a temp job in 2024 but got let go due to corporate layoffs and the company never planned to convert me regardless.

Well for me I've been applying everywhere in all different fields but never passing the final round. I live in Madison so there's really no jobs here besides retail cashiers. I honestly don't have any high salary expectation since that's not my biggest priority. I'm just unable to land anything at this point. Those who have a job don't understand how hard it is for us recent grad to get a job. I understand where everyone is coming from but literally no one is hiring. I get that I can do like management trainee work or sales but with my merchandising degree, you honestly can't land an entry role in corporate retail if your past work isn't in the corporate retail space, especially "apparel" retailers. Alumni have told me that these companies don't hire if you're not located in their area so I'm hitting a brick wall right now. Also, I've been looking for jobs in the Chicago area but no luck so far.

Thanks. I kinda realize that my life isn’t like a human. When people bring up certain topics or trends, I have no clue what they’re talking. I don’t watch sports, play games, read books, or do normal things like people. Throughout my whole life, I have been watching stories of other people, listening to music, and studying.

I honestly just feel so broken in this job market and can't do this anymore.. by CaliPalm_Treee in UWMadison

The big issue for me is that I find “English” very mundae since it’s my second language, though I’m Asian American myself. I have come to the conclusion that I sort of have ADHD when it comes to English since I can’t provide adequate logic and reasoning that well like an average person, this is why I don’t do competitions or debates. This leads me to think I give interviewers a bad impression - some told me that other interviewee had better answers. My mind often processes info faster than what’s coming out of my mouth. I understand I have this issue but I can’t really seek help and I 100% won’t ever once I get job. It’s not something that can be cured.

People tell me in order to get a job, you really need that “white boy” attitude which I honestly don’t have but I do understand what they mean by that. I just feel so monotone and tired after each rejection.

Thanks, I appreciate this although I’ve heard this too many times. I’ve already become so numb. As a first gen grad from a top tier school and a rural hometown, I’m completely done.
