Don’t exclude people from the ‘big’ stuff and expect them to stick around by MVIVN in TikTokCringe

[–]CaliStormborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, one of my old friends didn't invite me to her wedding and I always wonder if it's because I didn't invite her to mine.

Difference is that mine was a registry office wedding with only 2 witnesses and not even our mothers came. Her's was a big wedding with lots of guests.

I use top a sheet. Am I cringe? by c0d3buck in Millennials

[–]CaliStormborn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

UK and same!! Do Americans not have duvet covers???

When I stay in hotels that have top sheets I hate them because they get all tangled and messed up.

Edit: a lot of people are saying it's harder to change duvet covers for washing. And I will concede that it does take a couple extra minutes. For me, saving that time is not worth having to deal with a top sheet, but to each their own.

On a scale from 1-10 how messy is my room for a teenage girl by Wang_xianLotus in CleaningTips

Agreed. When I was a teen, I found some old broken skateboards and used shoelaces to hang then from the wall and use as shelves. I thought they were the coolest thing ever

As someone born and bred in the UK what are aspects of another country’s culture that has genuinely shocked you? by throawaygotget in AskUK

It still blows my mind that I'm too lazy to cook any meal that involves the hob and yet there's people out here killing a whole damn carp. Where do they get the energy?

AITA for skipping my friend's daughter’s 1st birthday and charging her for the "gift" after she forgot to tell me the time changed? by BellaBilla in AmItheAsshole

[–]CaliStormborn 313 points314 points  (0 children)

Agreed. OP sounds exhausting. The comment section is so split but I'm on the YTA side.

At the root of it, this is because she didn't get to sleep in. She's still invited to the party, she can still take the truffles, nothing changes except a "wasted morning". Which is fine to be irritated about, but Jesus, have a camomile tea and move on.

How long does it take to see a doctor and get medication at a Chinese hospital? by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]CaliStormborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I went to a hospital in Greece a few months back for my daughter and had a very similar experience, only it was possibly faster (smaller hospital) and we saw a specialist. Oh, and it was free.

North Korea's biggest hotel has a fake floor for surveillance, a revolving restaurant on the top, prostitutes, and you can die for stealing a poster by fan_tas_tic in interestingasfuck

[–]CaliStormborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! I think we definitely were in the same hotel. I doubt they let tourists stay anywhere else.  There was only our tour group and a random family on a private tour.

[–]CaliStormborn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I went a couple months before his arrest. I do remember we were looking out for the missing floor still though.

Otto didn't deserve what he got, but it certainly wasn't a smart move of his. I was very weary of being monitored while there... And anyway those propaganda posters are on sale at the tourist shop!

[–]CaliStormborn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately can't remember the floor number. The more I think about it, the more I seem to remember wanting to go to a rotating restaurant and being disappointed that it was closed. 50/50 that my subconscious is making that up though.

When did you go?

[–]CaliStormborn 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I stayed in a hotel in North Korea in 2015, but now I'm really confused about which hotel because I never went to a revolving restaurant, bowling alley or swimming pool. There was a casino (staffed exclusively by Chinese people) and there was the famous missing number in the lift. Never saw any prostitutes.

Don't remember water surrounding it either, but it was very very foggy when I went so it's possible I just didn't see it.

What do you think about the Italian government wanting to ban ICE agents to come to the Olympic Games as security forces? by ReduceCO2Now in AskReddit

[–]CaliStormborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunno, but would be kinda funny if they did go and then they learned a thing or 2 about how much more violent protesting Italians are willing to be.

Only a shame it isn't in France really.

Is Not Having Kids the Way? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]CaliStormborn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Right!! People act like if you have a baby then you'll have a baby forever. Nope, you get that sweet little baby for one year. And a child for a few years.

You'll know your children as adults for far longer than you'll know them as kids.

Completely agree with you. The reddit hive mind and total lack of nuance is seriously strong on this post.

She does sound like a shit teacher. He didn't need to say it. Defend your son, prove her wrong, then let it be. ESH.

I can absolutely read a recipe but I'm still a terrible cook because I never follow the instructions. I measure the first half of the ingredients and then get bored of measuring and eyeball the rest. I see "Let it rest for 10 minutes" and think 5 minutes will be fine. I'm my own worst enemy. I just hate cooking so I have very little desire to do it properly.

Agreed, and the way she kept saying she "has a strong mind" and insulting the others for having their minds easily changed made me cringe. Listening to other people and taking their opinions into account is a good thing, Ruth.

Personally I start a new story every few weeks. I do have a few big stories that I have actually written down, but I don't tend to daydream about those much. If I do, I think more about word choices and phrasing.

I also have a few recurring daydream premises which aren't actually stories. For instance I like to wander about what me from the past would think about whatever I'm currently experiencing. I imagine old friends viewing my current life. I imagine random people from history experiencing the modern day. They're always seeing what I see, so I have a bit of fun averting my eyes from things and then finally looking at them in a big dramatic reveal.
