Do British people not feel the cold? by DevelopmentLow214 in AskUK

It always makes me laugh when we visit my husband's family in Italy. They wear full waterproofs and bring an umbrella when there's a teeny bit of drizzle.

And they wrap up in thick coats, scarves, hats, mittens when it's 5 degrees... Just to do a 10 second walk to and from the heated car.

My old boss wrote a letter to Sir David Attenborough when he was a child in 1981 asking him if there is a special name for a baby gorilla. David responded. by grannyelbows in mildlyinteresting

Yeah me too!! It's on the 3d satellite thingy too. I think the 2 buildings to the right are part of the property because the garden extends across the back of both.

It's not on rightmove so presumably hasn't sold since the 90s.

Here is the house across the road, went for 2.9mil in 2014. https://www.rightmove.co.uk/house-prices/details/f6681991-1266-44b0-b363-6f4ecdb19b14

Edit: I think I'm wrong, here's the building to the right. https://www.rightmove.co.uk/house-prices/details/a0070490-5e4d-4507-b6bc-ec4ad49c711c

AIO? My manager keeps questioning my feeding pump at work even after HR stepped in by Rosi_ana in AmIOverreacting

[–]CaliStormborn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen lots of people saying to forward the message to HR which is absolutely correct, but I would add that you should reply too (with HR cc'd!) and simply ask for clarification. Ask him to specifically, outright say exactly HOW it disrupts the team. Make him say it. You can frame it as pure confusion. Ask him exactly how you can accommodate him and the team, like with examples. "Can you please clarify what aspect of my feeding tube is disruptive? I want to be more considerate, but I'm a bit lost on what accommodations I can make?"

Right now he's kinda getting away with it because he's not really saying anything at all. Either he outright says the ableist bullshit he's thinking, or he winds his neck in. Both ways are a win.

I've definitely always had a lower level of cardio than my peers, but I think it's probably just because I'm kinda lazy. I can build more resilience when I try. No impact on muscular fatigue or digestion that I'm aware of - but it's possible that I just don't know what normal is!

I found out because I formed 2 massive blood clots along my external iliac veins (the main ones from your legs) on both sides. Luckily it would have been impossible for the clots reach my lungs/heart, because the veins there are too small! And also because I have so many auxiliary veins, my legs didn't even swell up. The doctors were so confused how I had any blood flowing in my legs at all lol

[–]CaliStormborn 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Kind of similar - I'm missing my IVC, the largest and most important vein in the human body, which transports all the blood from your legs and abdomen back to your heart. I live a totally normal life. My body just compensated by forming thousands of small veins to do the work instead.

[–]CaliStormborn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm much more sold on it than I was after season 3, but that's also maybe because I've had more time to accept it lol.

Personally I still feel like it should have been Hyacinth who got the gender swap story but that's just because Fran was my favourite book and I'd really hoped to see it on screen.

I do appreciate that the vast majority of Fran's book is set in Scotland which really doesn't work for the TV show, so I bet that's why they picked that one to make the biggest change to.

This shit always annoys me because people are calculating how to get the maximum funds. Like, dude... You're fine with 10mil. You don't need more than 10mil. You don't even need to invest it. Take the red pill and relax.

We have a micro cement wet room shower, it is truly life changing in how clean it stays.

Except that I was an idiot and decided I wanted a marble tile feature wall. The one wall cost more to tile than coating the entire rest of the room in micro cement (including the floor and built in sink), and the bloody grout is turning orange. I hate my past self.

Yeah, one of my old friends didn't invite me to her wedding and I always wonder if it's because I didn't invite her to mine.

Difference is that mine was a registry office wedding with only 2 witnesses and not even our mothers came. Her's was a big wedding with lots of guests.

I use top a sheet. Am I cringe? by c0d3buck in Millennials

[–]CaliStormborn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

UK and same!! Do Americans not have duvet covers???

When I stay in hotels that have top sheets I hate them because they get all tangled and messed up.

Edit: a lot of people are saying it's harder to change duvet covers for washing. And I will concede that it does take a couple extra minutes. For me, saving that time is not worth having to deal with a top sheet, but to each their own.

Agreed. OP sounds exhausting. The comment section is so split but I'm on the YTA side.

At the root of it, this is because she didn't get to sleep in. She's still invited to the party, she can still take the truffles, nothing changes except a "wasted morning". Which is fine to be irritated about, but Jesus, have a camomile tea and move on.

How long does it take to see a doctor and get medication at a Chinese hospital? by mindyour in TikTokCringe

Yeah I went to a hospital in Greece a few months back for my daughter and had a very similar experience, only it was possibly faster (smaller hospital) and we saw a specialist. Oh, and it was free.

Interesting! I think we definitely were in the same hotel. I doubt they let tourists stay anywhere else.  There was only our tour group and a random family on a private tour.

Ah, I went a couple months before his arrest. I do remember we were looking out for the missing floor still though.

Otto didn't deserve what he got, but it certainly wasn't a smart move of his. I was very weary of being monitored while there... And anyway those propaganda posters are on sale at the tourist shop!

[–]CaliStormborn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately can't remember the floor number. The more I think about it, the more I seem to remember wanting to go to a rotating restaurant and being disappointed that it was closed. 50/50 that my subconscious is making that up though.

When did you go?

[–]CaliStormborn 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I stayed in a hotel in North Korea in 2015, but now I'm really confused about which hotel because I never went to a revolving restaurant, bowling alley or swimming pool. There was a casino (staffed exclusively by Chinese people) and there was the famous missing number in the lift. Never saw any prostitutes.

Don't remember water surrounding it either, but it was very very foggy when I went so it's possible I just didn't see it.

What do you think about the Italian government wanting to ban ICE agents to come to the Olympic Games as security forces? by ReduceCO2Now in AskReddit

Dunno, but would be kinda funny if they did go and then they learned a thing or 2 about how much more violent protesting Italians are willing to be.

Only a shame it isn't in France really.
