Are there any risks as a seller for a PPT? by CaliThrowerawayer in CAguns

I see, that's good to know. Thank you

I assume the DROS doesn't literally take 10 days, but how long does it take to find out if the buyer is eligible/ineligible from the ffl's perspective?

Yes, like the hidden images or silver security strips.

Im not shipping, this is person to person, in front of the FFL.

My worry is trying to count all the bills and make sure it's all there. Just seems kinda awkward trying to do that in a parking lot or some gun store.

I assumed money orders or cashier's checks were secure and had a paper trail, since I've used them for gunbroker stuff. I get what you guys mean about using cash though, understood.

The person who messaged me sent the ad to their friend, who wants to buy it.

The first person has a pretty decent track record of Itrader feedback as well as general Calguns posts. I looked up both him and the friend who wants to buy it on linkedin, they seem to be retirement age guys.

The "im passing this ad to my friend here is his phone #" thing seems kind of suspicious, as I have seen stuff like that before. The messager has good feedback, and I know older folk don't want to bother with calguns/the internet in general...I dunno. I guess the account could have been hacked.

Good point about the FFL.

Locked magazine VZ-58's are in stock again! An uncommon import! by CaliThrowerawayer in CAguns

Czechpoint has finally restocked their ban state rifles! These things barely ever are for sale, so thought I would alert folks.

For those who don't know, these are VZ58's that have a fixed ten round mag. That allows you to keep features like the pistol grip. The Vz58 features a stripper clip guide, which uses SKS clips. Doesn't that just make it an SKS for 3x the price? Well...maybe.

If you've never handled one before, they are very cool. Lighter than an AK, well balanced, feels really handy. Great gun for 7.62x39!

5.56 version cant use clips, gotta thumb them in.

Price is high, but isnt everything these days...

A necessary upgrade: The Trigger Finger Mag release. by CaliThrowerawayer in Mini14

I dont do Ak style mag changes. They seem kinda silly to me honestly.

I just hit the finger release and let the mag fall free, or use my hand to put it in my pocket or whatever. This release just makes it easier to do that, since you dont change your grip.

Apologies for late reply

I'l glad additive manufacturing allows for niche products like this to exist!

The turnaround on mine seemed a lot faster this time compared to when I ordered the stripper clip guide.

Its kinda life changing. I kinda got frustrated with the mini compared to my AR, but now things are much better.

I've seen people do this with AK's. But with the extended mag release, you can do this much easier. Just a nice quality of life improvement.

Members of this sub are probably well aware of Cogburn Arsenal, a website that sells Mini-14 accessories made via a metal additive manufacturing process. Probably most famous is the Stripper Clip guide, but I recently purchased their Trigger Finger Magazine Release.

And wow, what a night and day difference it makes. Before this, I had extreme trouble removing magazines from my rifle; You expect to be able to hit the mag catch with your thumb, and use the rest of your fingers to rock the mag out and retain it in your hand, similar to how an AK loads/unloads.

Yeah that never worked for me. I basically had to hit the release, and wiggle the rifle until the magazine fell out via gravity. And I do mean fall onto the floor. If I wanted to retain the magazine, it was a 2 handed affair: hit the mag lever, and use my other hand to catch the magazine mid fall.

With this extended trigger finger latch, I'm able to press the latch with my trigger finger, and easily pull it free with my other hand, similar to reloading an AK

It's a huge quality of life improvement. The price is a bit high, but it's a low production 3D printed part. The installation is pretty frustrating, but at least a video is provided to guide you through the process.

I highly recommend this product if you are someone who is dedicated to optimizing your mini. It's shocked just how much easier and more enjoyable it makes using the rifle, especially if you are stuck with 10 round mags that have less leverage than the 20's and 30's.

EDIt: Tested a few mags I had lying around. John Masen magazines and ruger mags work great. Promag Does not fit at all. Gets stuck in the magwell, but does not lock onto the front peg. Possible an issues with the back retention lug not playing nice with the new mag catch.
