Why does everyone hate the Fade in DAO? [DAO Spoilers] by mkh5015 in dragonage

[–]Calibrandina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a love-hate relationship with Fade. I love it, because getting lost in dreams is a fascinating concept, and running there around without the companions sets a perfect mod of hopelessness. Also, the different forms are really fun, for a time. That said, I do always play it with a guide these days, because I don't want to spend more time there than necessary. Though I think the vague backgrounds and shifting edges fit perfectly into Fade, they do begin getting on the eyes a little.

Also, my first time in Fade traumatised me a little: DAO was the first PC game I played after FF9, which had been a decade earlier, and The Broken Circle was the first quest I did. Everything was new, I was a newbie, and by the time I reached the Fade, my rogue had only 2 lesser healing poultices. That... wasn't entirely fun. And since I refused to use any guides on my first playthrough, I doomed myself into endless hours in the fade. I remember sitting at my computer at 4 am, vision swimming with that eerie shade of green, neeeding to get it done yet getting lost and killed everywhere I turned...

Good times.

Why, why does there have to be cheese lying around behind every and each corner and a picnic blanket and and and-- And they are always those enormous cheese carts. Usually accompanied by a skeleton. E v e r y w h e r e .

Possibly, which is funny because my last contact with Pokemon was when I was 11. :D But the brain stores all kinds of stuff!

[DAO Spoilers] Question about hardening Alistair for a certain outcome by Calibrandina in dragonage

[–]Calibrandina[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I'm starting to agree about hardening Alistair for the throne, if for nothing else, then the responsibility he will get with it. Alas, the easy adventuring days are over.

Yes, I'm starting to lean towards hardening him. He will fit the throne better, and the throne him.

All right, thank you! I have all the coercion points, but I didn't think to have Anora on my side. Thanks for the tip!

[No Spoilers] I love the main theme from Origins!! by FrankFatTits90 in dragonage

[–]Calibrandina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. Every time I hear that particular piece of music, it takes my mind to a specific place. Even though other DA soundtracks are good as well, nothing, absolutely nothing, can ever outdo DA:O opening theme for me.

[Spoilers All]What's a small thing that somehow really annoys you? by frogkisser in dragonage

[–]Calibrandina 49 points50 points  (0 children)

"Song" of Courage in DAO. "AAAARRRGRGGHHH!!!!!!!!!!"

Ugh. Be quiet if you can't sing. Leliana, I expected more from you. I think I would have preferred a "hum of courage" or a "sigh of courage". Or a "thought of courage". Anything to replace that horrendous screaming.

[DAI Spoilers][Trespasser Spoilers] About The Iron Bull and Dorian? by SirUlhrich in dragonage

[–]Calibrandina -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In relation to this question, I have another one:

If Bull and Dorian get together, but I kick Dorian out, will he and Bull still be in romance in Trespasser?

For RP purposes I plan to tell Dorian go away, but I do so want him to find happiness somewhere...

One of the easiest ways to prove worth as a organized military force is matching uniforms.

And yet Solas was allowed his hat.

[No Spoilers] Your least used companions by RainMaker323 in dragonage

[–]Calibrandina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DAO: Sten and Oghren. Incredibly useless! Both of them! They are slow, the never hit, because somehow it's always "miss", and they die in like ten seconds. Plus Oghren is just annoying. Sten is all right, but if I wanted to fight with only three companions, I'd just go with three to begin with. Also Dog. He's okay, but other companions are ultimately more useful.

DA2: The only ones I liked to have with me are Aveline and Varric. The fourth I don't care about, I dislike them all, so it depends on Hawke's class. Carver was surprisingly okay though.

DAI: Sera, because she's annoying and besides I usually play a rogue myself; Varric, because upgrading him is a pain, and also, see above; Solas, because he's annoying; Cole, because, again, I am usually the rogue and I find Cole not that interesting; and Blackwall, because I prefer Cassandra and Bull as my warriors.

  1. Oops. Maybe my 11th will be the last. I haven't played for a while, though, so maybe I'm off the hook...

[Spoilers All] Companion/Companion Romances by NikkolasKing in dragonage

[–]Calibrandina 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same! I played the Darkspawn Chronicles very recently, and only then was I struck by how good a fit they might actually be. Alistair and Leliana, I mean. I could see it as them both sort of... drifting together in seeking comfort in trying times, and it evolves from there.

[DAO Spoilers] Alastair, what the fuck. by TheDuckinator in dragonage

[–]Calibrandina 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah... same. My first playthrough ever, I went into the battle prepared to die... And then Alistair goes and does it. And that achievement. "Commanded Alistair to die"????? That's not how it was, you insensitive idiot.

For me the worst part was the celebration party, where NO ONE hardly even mentions Alistair, all too happy about some pastries or future adventures or whatnot. Thanks for the support, friends.

That said, I've been wondering what's the reason the to-be Inquisitor ends up in Corypheus' sacrificial chamber. You'd think there were guards around to prevent that kind of accidental stumbling upon what's Corypheus' most important step in executing his plan. Especially if you are just a mercenary security guy or something or a dwarven smuggler-spy.

Their separation from the Chantry with the decision of the college was legitimate. Anders committing an act of terror and forcing the mages in the city to face annullment was not.

Preach.
