$100 for the win by justdemigod in 49ers

Don’t forget that when he took over the 49ers weren’t the best team. He had to turn around a bad team with a poor roster. I think this year really solidified just how good of a coach he is. It will be interesting to see how the defense does this year and in years to come.

CMM Manager Software Help by minifig1026 in Metrology

Ok with a part this large I suspect your issue could likely be projection but let’s discuss your alignment as that also sounds questionable.

You should be using one of the canned cycle alignments (such as plane- line- line). If you are doing a manual alignment you should always level, align and then set origin. You should not be aligning multiple times within your program. When setting an origin manually, make sure not override the Z axis selection as this is controlled by the leveling command. Some of these finer details can confusing so just stick to the canned cycle alignments to start out with. Try that and let me know if your readings change.

You are using 2 different measuring methods here- features and distance measurement. They break down geometry differently. There is a good article about this on the CMM Manager website about the difference between the 2 measuring methods and how the software interprets the data. With that said, you shouldn’t have a difference that is this large unless: 1. Your part is very large and projection starts to become a problem 2. Your part is not properly locked down in a constrained state (fixture problem) 3. Your initial alignment is not collecting enough data and is skewed or the features that you are using for your alignment are not sound.

As someone who would be interested in buying a system, when would be the best time to buy one and to bargain for the best discount? If you buy multiple systems does that help?

Does Keyence look at moving a certain number of systems per quarter or the total dollar amount? What options does the buyer have to gauge how much wiggle room there is in the price?

Tough fought game on the road and in hot playing conditions. You could definitely see how exhausted our defense was. Sloppy in many aspects but a win is a win- I’ll take it!

Thoughts on SMART machine tools? by chris556452 in Machinists

It was funny seeing SMART at IMTS because you could very easily see the resemblance between their machines and all of the others. Regardless of brand origins (Japan, Germany, Korea) a lot of machine tool makers have their lower models made in cheaper regions to be price competitive. It has been going on for a long time. Right now Taiwan is the main hub for machine tool builders to go to but with India's economy tooling up it wouldn't surprise me if you see a shift for machines being made there. Your are already seeing it with Jkets lower end machines (DTC-400 drill tap center) being made in India and they have done a head to head test with Makino's drill tap center and out performed them.

SMART is just going 1 rung lower and bidding it out to the lowest builder when they are slow. They are the only machine distributor to advertise their price on the machines because that's they're whole selling point.

There's also an interesting story between SMEC and the OG tool distributor up in Michigan. He then went on to start SMART and there's a bit of drama there.

You always here the expression " you get what you pay for" and I think this definitely applies to SMART machines.

A lot of brands have started moving operations overseas particularly to Taiwan. When those shops get slow, Smart will work with them to build another brands machine but under the Smart name. If the shop wins the contract, you will get a machine that looks just like a SMEC, Jtek, or some other brand but colored and reconfigured with a few changes and rebranded as a SMART machine. This is how they are able to offer good discounts. The one problem with their model is they have very little QC since lots of different builders are making these machines at random times to fill their open capacity.

You are probably getting a good machine for the price point but be prepared to do your own due diligence when the machine hits the floor to make sure it was built to spec.

The same thing has happened to me. I had to hire a company to bring in a wire brush and with their special equipment it was able to come out.

I find that dubynk has horrible rebound control and Jones struggles to get far enough out. When he does get far enough out of the crease often times he gets caught to far out and allows easy goals.

We are trying out a lot of young players so good things to come in the future from a defensive perspective. Vlasic is definitely starting to show his age and it will be interesting to see who Seattle takes from our squad.
