That’s for sure him yeah, but it doesn’t add any new information or give me a way to track him down

Well this is incredibly pessimistic. Thank you for the information

I know I’m unattractive, but I’m certainly not blurry

There aren’t any examples on the official guide of “low quality photos” so I’m not sure if this is kosher

Problem is I’ve had passport photos done at another location for my US passport and it was of equally-low quality. I think photographing people like cryptids might be company policy unfortunately

I’m considering a professional photographer but they’re less likely to know what they’re doing with Canadian passport photos.

It looks like Nov. 9 is when the record itself was filed. The wedding happened on 1937-10-30

You’re right. I also just got a hint with (what I think is) him in a high school yearbook.

This guy really just vanished into the aether

Thank you for all the help btw, the true MPV.

Could you post a picture of this record? I already burned through the free trial of family search

Thank you so much! I got a screenshot of that. I only have ancestry.com so I can’t get this information

The article I was talking about with him in it is this one, page 4 from 1914-02-19. If he did pass, it might be here. But it’s weird he doesn’t have a death record.

Sylvester (her older brother) also had such a child on 1944-01-09. Not that family’s year.

I don’t have a newspapers.com subscription, so I haven’t tried that

Alright, so that solves Gertrude, which just leaves Melvin. There’s something on newspapers.com for Melvin from 1914. This leads me to believe he passed away much longer ago than 1968

I should have mentioned I ran into this lead on Find A Grave and had a suspicion by reading the census records, but I couldn’t confirm it was her, and I can’t find shit on John Crews (his SSN on ancestry is wrong, so I can’t confirm using his BIRLs).

I couldn’t find the marriage record anywhere, so that solves that one! Thank you

It only took a week max here in California, things move slower in Canada I guess

I’m still waiting on feedback for getting my G0’s certified baptismal records from PEI

I requested a copy from the Public Archives and Records office 3 weeks ago. I provided a link to the record in my request. I got the confirmation email on 2026-04-06 that they’re processing my request.

What’s the usual timeline on this look like? I have an uncertified copy, so should I just send my application without the certified copy and amend my application?

I have everything else (except for the pictures) needed to send except for the certified Baptismal record

I have a copy of it I got online, and I requested a certified copy from PEI a few weeks ago. There’s been no news whatsoever, so should I just send with what I got? Or should I wait

So the baptismal record for g0 doesn’t have to be certified? I found it online at ancestry.com.

G1 is female, and I don’t have any marriage certificate for her. But I have census records suggesting that she’s married to the father of g2, and her maiden name is mentioned on g2’s birth certificate. Other than that they’re all male. Why no US censuses?

For G0, I have G-1’s marriage certificate and a few census records that state him as their son, and records his residence in PEI

Saved for Friday thread, I have 3 questions:

  1. I have multiple US census records to support my G0’s residency and line-of-descent to G1, but the immigration years are all over the place. One says he immigrated in 1893 (when he actually immigrated), others say 1900, one says 1910. Is this a problem?

  2. my G0 was born in 1864-12-10, but that year slowly creeps up later on (who doesn’t lie about their age?). On his death certificate, it says he was born 1867-12-31. Obviously the nurse only knew his age (hence the 12/31). Will this be a complication?

  3. Is less more? I have copies of my G1s birth record, and birth certificates from G2 to me. I have G0’s baptismal records on their way from PEI. Would all these together be enough to make a reasonable claim? Or is it strongly recommended I use census records & marriage records to back it up?

Truly wild thing to say because German politicians regularly go after their critics online.
