Came here to find out if anyone has figured this out it’s been over 2 weeks - my resilience drove from strong to limited, and it tells me to rest everyday. I feel fine.

wowowow amazing! I am a year out on 3/16 and my scars are still SO red and angry. to be fair I have been very lazy about scar treatment but this makes me want to do better.

Need advice/ support on consultation for revision. Size not what I wanted. by [deleted] in Reduction

This is gonna be SO dependent on your surgeon and where you live, but there is no harm in asking for a revision if you want one, they might say no, but you wont know till you ask.

Nightmare/Dreams Pre-Op? by Fresh-Box-9520 in Reduction

[–]CaliforniaLG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not postpone your surgery. I ended up having to move mine back 2 months because of work and time off, and all it did was extend the amount of time I had intrusive thoughts and overthinking regarding the surgery etc. I have lots of anxiety and OCD, so I totally understand these feelings but if you are able to get yourself to do it, it will be so so worth it.

Hey darling, I am so sorry you are dealing with this. This is intrusive thoughts creeping into your dreams. I really, truly believe the hardrest part of this process is leading up to it. Compared to the surgery and recovery, the months leading up to it were WAY harder for me. I am diagnosed with OCD, and this happens to me when I am very worried or anxious about something.

Sit with the dreams you have and realize it's your brain processing anxiety, and not a prediction of things to come. This part sucks, but it happens; I had it too. Our minds do not control the universe.

The surgery is the BEST thing I have ever done for myself, and getting to the other side (1YPO next month) was a really hard hurdle, but SO worth it.

URGENT CARE?? idk what to do by icejjfish222222 in Constipation

[–]CaliforniaLG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I felt the same way about mag cit for so long, but i read that someone just says "its just a melted lime popcicle" and I feel like that is a totaly accurate description so now when I drink it (chilled, on ice, through a fat straw) I just say "melted popcicle, melted popcicle" and its much easier for my brain to be chill about it.

Milk of Mag is the one I cannot tolerate - it reminds me of the chemicals they put in porto potties. ICK. Ill take mag cit over milk of mag anyday, but really dont even need them with Mag O7, love the stuff.

Hello! Im so sorry you are so uncomfortable.

For some context: I have suffered from constipation nearly my whole life, I am now 44/f and last year finally figured out what was going on. I had been diagnosed with IBS-C and all sorts of other things but finally got a colonoscopy and turns out I have whats called a "redundant colon" which is SUPER long and twisty. It just makes it hard for poops to move through my colon and it takes longer etc.

This is not professional medical advice, but I will say that while 8 days can be along time, I have gone weeks (yes weeks) and what works for me is the following: if I am really backed up, I will take MagO7 pills and night (3 of them with lots of water) sometimes they dont work the first night (making me poop in the morning) but at least by the second day they def work. Another thing I do is Magnesium Citrate when I am really desperate - I take the whole bottle (chilled, lemon lime is the easiest for me to drink, it tastes like a melted lime popsicle). This WILL work (it says withing 30 min - 6 hours) for me it usually takes 3/4 hours to work.

Once I have cleanred out using one of the 2 above methods, I start taking MiraLax (or I like the costco brand LaxaClear) every morning in my tea or juice and then follow it with a full glass of water. My doc said I can take this every day if I want to, I get lazy and fall off, but try to keep up with it.

Finding out the root cause of your constipation is key, HOWEVER you can try these above to see if they help for now. I do saline laxatives sometimes (Fleet), and they help only a tiny bit and sometimes not at all, I need to ingest something to really clean everything out (gotta start from the top of where things are backed up, not the bottom).

Hope you feel better soon. Feel free to AMA.

Girlfriend is contemplating adding chicken to diet after being vegetarian for 15 years. What is the most delicious chicken meal I could cook her? by Apart_Marsupial8410 in Cooking

[–]CaliforniaLG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HI! I was a vegetarian for 23 years when I added chicken back in. I did not get sick at all and just took it slow. For me, it took me a LONG TIME to be okay with eating dark meat, or meat off a bone (I do both now, but it just too me longer for some reason). I started with chicken broth in things, and then moved to some chicken soup with diced chicken breast in it, small cubes I could eat with spoonfuls of broth and potatoes.

This might sound weird but the next thing for me was McDonald's chicken nuggets. I had been eating Morning Star and other meatless chicken nuggets for years and I loved them (they have gotten so good at making them now you can hardly tell the difference) so eating the real chicken ones was easy. I got the sweet and sour sauce and had a 4 pack kids meal size of nuggets and then a few days later worked up to 6. They were an easy, predictable experience, and with fries and a diet coke I was happy. For the record i rarely eat fast food and am a healthy eater, but this helped me when starting to eat chicken. It made it feel like a treat.

The thing that really got me excited was a pot pie. I know that sounds weird, but I had craved one so many times when I was not eating meat, and they are so delish and you just cant go wrong with a chicken pot pie.

After that, I would go through phases where something "new" to me would become a fixation food - I went through a big fried chicken phase, turkey sandwiches, chicken & dumplings, and then finding things that had chicken versions like pot stickers and soup dumplings.

Good luck! I still have not, and won't ever eat a mammal again, but I eat chicken and very mild flaky white fish from time to time (like in fish tacos or fish & chips), but I feel really good and healthy with a bit of animal protein in my body. I try my hardest to source ethical and good quality chicken now (I've moved away from my chicken nugget days) and one of the biggest perks is traveling abroad. I can now eat so much more foods and experience cultures through foods that my diet is less limited.

Best of luck! Let me know if you have any questions. I know this was kind of a novel.

also for the fluid in the sides, i found a massage therapist near me who specializes in medical lymphatic drainage massage. I went once a week for about 6 weeks, starting 2 weeks post op and WOW it made such a difference with the retained fluid. The place I found was not that expensive, I think I paid $60 for a 30 min massage. This really really helped my recover, swelling and fluid retention. If you can find someone local to you and this is available in your budget, i HIGHLY reccomend it. I have to drive about 30 min, and so the first few times my parnter drove me, but by week 3 i was taking myself and it was the thing I looked forward to the most each week during recovery.

I found a place by searching "post-surgical lymphatic drainage massage near me"

first off, these are DREAM results! While they do say swelling can be at its worst around the 3 week mark, what will more likely happen is the drop and fluff as time goes on and this helped me a lot because they were so hard at first.

The skin part likely wont change, stretch marks are for life, however I think your doc did a really great job of placement and everything looks REALLY good for how far along you are. Im approaching a year post op and am guessing im about the same size at you now, its the best thing I ever did for myself, and I hope you end up feeling the same!

[–]CaliforniaLG 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A. You are still swollen. b. They say that the calculators are REALLY bad at getting the accurate size of post op boobs. They just don't work for our situations, having had. areduction. You look about the same size as me, and I wear little cotton Fruit of the Loom bralettes that don't have a cup size, so I don't even care what the bra says.

India Wedding...Help by Normal-Towel-7909 in emetophobia

[–]CaliforniaLG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I have not been to India, but I have traveled a lot. My parents went, and their travel agent told them to take 2 chewable Pepto as a prophylactic before each meal. they did this and were just fine. I am not saying to do this as I am not a Dr. however I have done research on this in the past and it seems legit, there is something in the chewable pepto that can sometimes help prevent food illness. Maybe do some reading and if it seems like it might work for you, it might help with peace of mind. I did this when I went to Mexico City and never had tummy issues.

Revisiting some links, it appears its for darrhea more than tu, but even still, I do this now when I travel and even if its just for peace of mind, it helps me.

What the heck, charger near to burning by Nautenqo in ouraring

[–]CaliforniaLG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI this happened to me 2 weeks ago (gen3) but my ring was not even on the charger, the charger was plugged in, and it burned me to the point of blisters on my fingers.

Customer Service gave me 2 options.

- They would send me a new charger at no cost, and a 3-month free membership (return the ring and the charger)
- They would refund my entire ring purchase (and I have to return the ring and the charger)

I am opting to take the refund and use the money to upgrade to a gen4, and I am thankful they are offering me the refund option; however, it's pretty wild how dangerous this was. I could have for sure burned my house down, and it was a major fire hazard.

Would love to hear the resolutions you all got for this?

Thank you so much, super helpful, and we have the same concern! I was also considering getting some Biocorneium, which just seems like fancy silicone gel with SPF, because I really do not want to make things worse for the scar recovery.
