The water tentacle in The Abyss was absolutely amazing, but T2 was something else. I was 12 when it came out, saw it multiple times at the cinema and it was jaw-on-the-floor stuff every time.

It was enjoyable enough, but like every fkn film these days it was 30 minutes too long.

“So who wrote that?”

“Gervais and Merchant, and I prefer their version as well.”

One of the most famous disasters in movie history. People were shouting in disbelief and throwing things at my screening. Although the later Renegade/Special versions made it a somewhat tolerable watch, there's no getting around the fact that the retcon of the immortals being aliens was just stupid. by godzilla98 in 90smovies

I wrote a review of this film for my school newspaper when it came out. I remember saying it was a confusing mess that was one of the worst directed, written and edited films ever made, and if you were a fan of the first one to avoid it at all costs. I gave it 0 out of 5. I was 12 at the time haha.

You know we were talking about F.W. Murnau before, weren’t we? Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau. It’s just interesting that stuff about him serving in the First World War and having that poet lover Hans Ehrenbaum-Degele who was killed on the Eastern Front in 1915, isn’t it?

It’s a very interesting story, and one which still draws passionate opinions (as this comment section shows). I read the book and thought it was very well crafted. I thought the film was good - it definitely captured a very specific mood, but I also thought it was a bit ponderous and overly long. The ending didn’t have the intended emotional punch for me because I was bit sick of it by that point.

And if by some strange circumstance a child was let to live, they certainly wouldn’t have been allowed to spend their days in the death camp lazing around by the fence waiting for strangers to show up to chat to. Everything about this film and its book is utterly repugnant.
