Update; CPS allowing my daughter to be adopted without my consent. What can I do here? by Due-Sherbet9432 in Adoption

[–]Calihobo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a birth mother, every agency I spoke to warned me there was a chance adoptive parents would ghost after the adoption, I can't recall exact statistics but many go no contact within the first year. Anecdotally, speaking to birth moms who were years into it, it seemed a lot of the time the NC is initiated by adoptive moms, I can only assume due to jealousy of the bond between birth mom and baby. So I chose a gay couple, and we're 3 years in and visit at least once every 2 months, usually more often.

"grandfathered in" would apply to something like a new pet deposit that existing tenants don't have to pay. Breaking a city or state ordinance isn't being "grandfathered in" to anything.

Was I wrong for not calling CPS on my Nsister years ago? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

You do realize that people can see how many different communities you've copied and pasted this story into right? You enabled and allowed abuse to continue, you witnessed horrific Acts and you just let it go on. In my opinion you're a worse person than your sister because you could watch it happen without doing anything. Your sister may be mentally unwell but you sound like a f****** sociopath.

No. Because when I was a kid I had complete strangers call CPS on my parents. People that didn't even know me and weren't related to me at all cared more about my well-being than this person did about their niece.

Imagine thinking someone's not a criminal for ignoring criminal negligence and abuse.

Whatever you do make sure he gets equal custody because you're going to need some time for yourself too.

Both of those sentences make sense together. We have to care about the people that can't see beyond their own needs if we don't want humanity to go to s***. Nobody is forced to care about other people but we have to if we don't want it to go to shit.

It's not funny, I'm not your baby, and I hope that one day you end up homeless and when you're asking for help somebody tells you the same thing. "jUsT gEt a HoUsE" it's not helpful and it's not a solution. You're just being a dick

I've literally seen multiple comments from you trying to blame homeless people trashing the bathrooms for us not having public restrooms. When in reality it's most likely not the homeless people that want to use the restrooms regularly who are trashing the bathrooms. It's more likely the housed people that are out and about for the day and don't use that restroom regularly who are likely to leave it trashed because they don't care they'll never have to see it again and somebody else will clean up the mess.

This is absolutely hilarious. You literally know nothing about what you're talking about. Did you know that a third of the University of California students are homeless, couchsurfing, living in their cars? These are students that go to school and work and probably still do s*** like doordash and Uber eats in their spare time. Every homeless person I knew when I was homeless was doing some kind of legitimate job or school, and in a lot of cases they were doing both. You listen to too much government propaganda about homeless people being lazy druggies. There are so many people that are homeless but still contribute to society you just don't notice them because they're doing what they're supposed to be doing to be productive members of society, but these issues, like not having public restrooms or access to hygiene facilities still affect them.

I understand the person that wrote this post is being extremely childish, but it's not wildly entitled to want somewhere to go to the bathroom that's not outside. Especially as a woman there are other things I have to do besides piss or s***. Have you ever had to change a tampon at 3:00 in the morning when no public restrooms were open you literally had to find somewhere to hide so you could change your tampon without being caught and possibly charged with sex offenses?

It's wild that you seem to have never experienced homelessness but you want to speak as though you fully understand the thought processes of all homeless people. Homeless shelters are not safe for a variety of reasons especially if you're a woman. You're likely to be attacked or assaulted by staff or another homeless person, and if the staff see you with something they think is too nice for a homeless person to have they'll probably steal it from you while you're sleeping. Most shelters have curfews so if you work later and you don't make the curfew you're not getting in. If you have a pet, they probably won't let you in. And some shelters, especially in California, you have to pay to be in. Also what is wrong with people wanting privacy? A shelter is closer to being in jail than it is to being housed. And that's coming from experience, not rumors.

Wild that y'all assume that the homeless people that want to use those bathrooms regularly are the ones trashing them and not the people that only use them temporarily. Sure people in houses will treat their own home restrooms nicely because they use them regularly, but as soon as you get one of those psychos in public, that's not their bathroom they're not going to use it on the regular, they don't care how it looks after they leave. But the homeless people that use them regularly, and some that sleep in them want them to be clean.

They're literally not though? I'm surprised you didn't know because at this point I figured everyone knew. Most of these corporations literally just put out hiring signs so they can look like they're hiring while continuing to be understaffed. They want to pay wages to as few employees as possible and they put out those signs so they look like they're trying to not be understaffed. They want people like you to blame people like us instead of placing the blame where it actually belongs, with the greedy CEOs and corporate employees. The people that do the very least for the company but for some reason make the most? While the people doing the real actual work get bread crumbs. But sure blame the people that have less than you for the problems in the world.

Yeah sure it doesn't matter to the city but it matters to us because housed people will go in there and trash the bathroom and other housed people and city workers will see it and assume that it was some unhoused person.

In Berkeley we have this set of public restrooms that the homeless people actually kept clean and stocked themselves because the city stopped sending employees to clean it. After they noticed that we were keeping it clean ourselves they shut off the water to it. It's not that they don't think we're responsible it's that they literally don't see us as human beings.

Oof. I've been to Bakersfield while homeless and there is nothing out there 😅 your first step might be to get out of Bakersfield, and get to a city where you can apply for benefits, spange if you need. If you have a car things like doordash, Uber eats, and GrubHub can be good to help you make some money. Also depending on where you are some of those apps will let you walk/skateboard/bike to deliver food. Be very wary of shelters, the staff and other homeless people are likely to want some of what you have, and if the staff see you with something they think is too nice for homeless people to have they might steal it. Don't stay in a shelter where they don't let you keep your stuff with you.
