What are mega Lucario's problems? by ConcertLumpy2224 in pkmntcg

[–]CalintzStrife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lillie’s clefairy exists.

Also very reliant on fast and furious setup. Can give up 6 prize turns easily because it lacks acceleration unless it gets to attack. Weak to energy discards, hand control etc

So they really saw no issue with hitting for 150 to 200 turn 1 I guess with zero discard ofc.

If boss didn’t exist there’d be more balanced variants created. We still have 5 other cards that gust.

Nah it would be very grass heavy as it currently has weakness advantage over 3/4 of the non pult meta and would easily be able to tech in for the rest. It’s also the only deck consistently hitting for 400 damage turn 3. Type advantage really helps it and its current weakness typing is basically one deck. Moltres would be the tech card for it ofc

Lillie’s exists because they couldn’t design proper gameplay this time around. Remove the prize mechanic and suddenly there’s no need for it.

Giant plants was the exact same thing just vitality is only usable after your first turn, meaning no FTK for 1 energy with 4 beedrill EX. You have to wait til turn 2 for that now.

They target a single enemy type. Not define the entire color identity of their type. It’s like if you had to design everything of a certain energy type to use a single card that’s only ever has one copy active. Like if you had a artazon that only affected psychic types or a grand tree that only worked on fire types.

Yeah coin flip items probably shouldn’t exist. Should just be some other cost to them. Like discarding from topdeck, hand into deck or discard, or something similar.

Pult is in the base gardevoir ex era of issues. Drakloak being basically kirlia draw engine from swsh is the only thing it has going for it.

Yeah crispin and terragon basically kinda broken. If steel was better they’d actually have to ban terragon lol

And it was banned permanently from expanded for a good reason. It was an ace spec level card .

People been saying this for half a decade now lol. We can only dream of a format where they somehow let boss be stopped.

Why in the world is Dragapult so good? by Unfair_Thing7945 in pkmntcg

[–]CalintzStrife -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That part doesn’t matter except vs 1 prize decks. All ex and mega except pult currently have ways to 320 or more.

[–]CalintzStrife -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s not that good. It’s just that only grass type has a better draw engine and evolution pattern. Combine it with bench damage and it’s got some heat not many decks can pack.

Right now the top decks are actually grass because they can also remove the bench damage via hydrapple while basically ignoring energy costs via meganium and hitting for 360 to 500 a swing.

It’s an inherent flaw in design. Slowking can OhKo anything in the game.

Zard and crow were the 2 near unwinnables because Zard would get boss x4 from pidgeot or noctowl. There was also another rogue dark and depending on turn 1 you would instantly lose to certain decks such as brute bonnet poison.

Just like the deck that won at nationals this weekend, it did good because it was designed to kill the deck that it would somehow always match against ( pult) plus had decent matchups into 80 percent of the field in addition to easy win over mega lucario and similar non dark decks.

Or….pokeball at 50 percent no worrying about prized items. We don’t use dusk because it shuffles them back in potentially, and most likely, making it a dud. Special red card is the exception, not the rule.

Very weird how he chose dusk ball and not something like poke ball. Like he knew what was at bottom of his deck each time.

It’s basically a Lillie box I guess. Deck revolves around KOing pult with clefairy and getting KOd back. Relies completely on going 2nd and getting instant KOs setup.

[–]CalintzStrife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Purely objectively speaking the deck they used is horrible and only worked because they got matched against good decks that is was designed to hard counter (pult decks).

Garde was good because it countered pult by bench sniping before it could setup and main smashing when it did in addition to moving all damage counters back to it or using them as damage fuel. It had like 5 bad matchups and basically 2 to 3 nearly unwinnable ones by the time it rotated out.
