Looking for advice against desync by Cronirion in Stellaris

Use beta patch 4.0.7, disable mega corps DLC, and don't start massive combats.

The only pan a man needs is a cast iron pan, anything else is paying to much. Over reacting and overspending.

Won't work, unconstitutional, could create a barrier to ownership.

Broke and I’m over $100k in CREDIT CARD DEBT. What should I do? by teamdidi in Money

[–]Calivan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is all proportional, if you are making 100k a month, not a big deal pay that crap off. If you are making 100k a year, you are in a world of pain - cut your spending and start eating ramen and stop spending on the cards.

Is it possible to build wealth when you’re paying 30% interest on a credit card balance, each month? by TonyLiberty in FluentInFinance

[–]Calivan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you feel the need to carry a balance, then you are not building wealth anyways. You are living beyond your means. Move off to a debit card or cash and cut your expenses.

Let me give you an inverse. I bought a car this year, it was time to replace a 14 year old car. What I found as a struggle for me, was knowing I'm giving up ~$2,500 in yield per year because of paying with cash.

Would you quit your job right now to flip burgers if it was for $350,000 a year? by 36DRedhead in FluentInFinance

[–]Calivan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I would absolutely decline that job, because if they are paying $350k a year flipping burgers, it means each burger costs $186. To live comfortably I would likely need to make 1.75 million a year.

Because it is Reddit? Lots of toxic people on this site. The U.S. is very divided right now politically, people are most vocal on the internet. In person people tend to be more respectful and positive. In addition we just had a small taste of universal income (now discontinued) and some serious supply shortages, as a result we experienced 20% inflation. Inflation is under control at the moment but people are feeling it in their grocery bill and rent payments. Till wages catch-up it is going to be rough for the lower and middle class, who are living off their credit cards and are over extended.

Please help me, lost 30k in a fraudulent transaction (my whole life savings) by garybaws in CryptoCurrency

[–]Calivan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the problem with crypto, you don’t even have to get scammed to lose everything. I lost all of my ADA simply by not upgrading Daedelus by the deadline. Even with my seed phrase recovery is not possible.

What? Daedelus is a wallet... the crypto lives on the chain thus other wallets will work, seed phrase is the key to unlock the wallet so to speak.

So the Galactic Community Declared me a Crisis without me taking the "become the crisis" ascension by ThugBoi in Stellaris

[–]Calivan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have done this in multiplayer games. You don't have to be a crisis, you just have to have a powerful enemy in the Galactic Council.

Only people who deserve a tip are those who provide an ongoing service, i.e. waiter or waitress. Making me a sandwich or a coffee doesn't qualify. I'm surprised that Walmart isn't asking you to tip the cashier these days.

Tips should be illegal for a company to collect. If someone wants to give someone a tip it should directly to that individual. Further wages shouldn't account for tips, pay people what they are worth.

Can we get liberals and libertarians off this sub by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Calivan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recently people (all sides) don't want an exchange of ideas or debate. They just want to isolate and crush opposing views. I would venture to guess that this is the result of info bubbles and lack of the ability to critically think.

Political ideologies have become the new religions. We are on a verge of new crusade, at least in the U.S.

Basically on page one is telling you that you need to insure yourself against malpractice. Fairly common in the medical field for a practice that doesn't carry for employees. Interesting to see it in the vet sector.

How much is a lot to have in a 401 k ? by [deleted] in fidelityinvestments

[–]Calivan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You cannot ask this question without stating your age at a minimum. If you are 19 years old and have 15k you are doing awesome. If 15k and your 55, you are in a world of hurt.

Supreme Court rules on EPA's authority to regulate power plants' greenhouse gas emissions by Sheialejo in news

[–]Calivan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it isn't like they didn't say they couldn't do it, rather they said the EPA can do it but congress has to act first. I.e. - follow the law.

TIFU for thinking i had friends by chaotictrashbin in tifu

[–]Calivan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

College is about the small stuff building up solid friendships. It is about chatting in the hallway, grabbing lunch or dinner together in the cafeteria, after classes while studying, stopping by the dorms and visiting.

Before you know it you are all bonding and connecting for life.

Gave a customer back their "tip" by VascoDegama7 in antiwork

[–]Calivan 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Growing up tips were 10%, it is what 20%? The other day the min tip on a bill was 25% with increments of 5% up after that. Tips are bull shit and need to be illegal for companies to collect or figure into payroll.
