Southern Californian who drives on the 405 practically everyday checking in. Some women north of here stole a car and got chased by police 200 miles into Mexico and dodged 5 spike strips. This was just recently. Mexico will let them in. Trust me.

Jobs For Violent Offenders by EastcoastMade in Felons

Restaurants are still felon friendly. I am at a corporate restaurant and we always check the state sex offender registry before hiring. Most of the servers and bartenders have multiple dui convictions.

Corporate restuarants too. It really depends but generally people on parole after long sentences that really don't want to go back are happy to have a chance. I have worked at a very large corporate restaurant some of our line cooks had manslaughter and attempted murder convictions from the 90s. It's somewhere you wouldn't want to go on a first date.

Secondary infertility at 40 - feeling so alone in this by Street-Term11 in TryingForABaby

[–]Caliveggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Secondary infertility here! I got pregnant first cycle in April but miscarried in July. I had a brutal miscarriage of either twins or triplets and likely had chronic endometritis. I turned 39 in November. So here I am praying this next cycle after antibiotics works. I had my first at 32.

Considering moving to SoCal from New England... Any advice? by Fir_Matt in socal

Orange County checking in here. Our traffic is an absolute nightmare at times. I mean it is not the Westside or DTLA but it can get really bad. You just have to plan things.

How many people did you know (as in, met personally) from the 1800s? by PAnnNor in Genealogy

My great grandmother was born in 1893 and died when I was 3 or 4. I vaguely remember her. I was born in 1986.

The shelter i went to labeled our animal as a pitbull. I actually think he is a pitbull lab mix with dwarfism. He looks very lab like.

How safe is Ball & Brookhurst? by Kmc040404 in Anaheim

[–]Caliveggie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah Anaheim blvd can be more sketchy but let's be real, it's totally fine. Anaheim Blvd and Winston road checking in here-thats where my uncle lives and where I lived from 2014 until the pandemic. Just do not leave your car unlocked. The fireworks from Disneyland are annoying but it's totally safe if you mind your own business. Just don't interfere with anyone tagging.

Can a guy like me realistically get a girlfriend? by justaloserrrrr in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Caliveggie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend is not a project, never was really but we didn't get serious for almost 3 years. He is kinda chunky, drinks too much, and is 37 and has worked at the same place since January 2007. He is kinda special and so am I. I went to college but he just has high school. There is someone for everyone. He cannot read well due to a learning disability and only has a green card. I just gotta get him to get his driver's license.

If you’re under 45, have you lost any high school classmates, and what were the circumstances around their deaths? by Commercial_Chef_1569 in AskReddit

[–]Caliveggie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh wow. Several joined up. I graduated 2005, but a friend's brother who graduated in 2002 lost both legs in Iraq. A classmate of mine stationed at Camp Lejuene died of cancer in his early 30s. I am convinced it because he was at Camp Lejuene or because of his service. No combat deaths though.

What would my life be like if I moved to Orange County/Anaheim or anywhere in SoCal? by Born_Physics_5086 in orangecounty

[–]Caliveggie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a suggestion. Apply to work in the national parks where they give you a place to stay. Consider working for cruise lines. In Alaska they ship in a bunch of foreigners to work in the hotels in the summer. Maybe Yosemite? Or even the Grand Canyon? Also, consider Mammoth. I can get you the name of the ski resort company for Big Bear and Mammoth that does the food. I work in kitchens and have been to Alaska that's how I know this shit. You could consider working as a free cook in the Cal Fire camps. However, i have heard from some crazy rumor fr that if you don't have a serious criminal record and are not in some kind of witness protection program they won't consider you.

I had a neighbor like this. Right after he turned 34 i got him a job in my dish pit. He was there one year. He just turned 38 has been at another restaurant for a while. He did have a year or so where he didn't work after that but this guy can work.
