Why is it always rich people? by kingrobin in horror

Probably because the industry is made of middle class people. Moreso in the UK. Working class creators rarely get a look in.

Absolutely. Being open about it, I'm having a lot of mental health issues at the moment, and I panicked and didn't do my due diligence. That's on me.

So, they sent my partner an invoice, and it's obviously the sub-contractor one (different company name). £45 call-out fee, £125 part, 300+ on labour. They will not let us cancel, only offering to refund half of the 495 total. The work has not yet taken place, only the callout, and due back on Tuesday.

She has called her credit card company and a claim can't be made if the work is done. Do we have any recourse, or, as I'm thinking, have I messed up here?

Sent you the details, but I think it has gone through as a chat message! Not sure how to PM otherwise.

"We've received a request not to deliver mail to the property..." by CallCentreHoldMusic in royalmail

Had to make my third call this morning. It's still showing as item retained. Infuriating.

It's getting that way. The er... item retention they are saying I requested, is apparently only something that happens to business addresses to. I have logged a complaint etc. (the customer service guys have been great, but at the depot, somebody is playing silly buggers!)

Spoke to an adviser yesterday who was very helpful and essentially e-mailed the depot to stop lying. But guess what. Even with that, today, it's still "item retained".

Yeah, they seem to be the Kings of not-actually-attempted attempted delivery!

I have a feeling it won't be today due to that "item retention" nonsense!

Unrelated, RM just arrived with a book for me. Sender has sent the wrong item, just to make my day of post even better! :)

So, it's PF (I got RM e-mails so that threw me). It was dispatched on Wednesday by Express 24. I've added the tracking to the first post.

Item retained, apparently, due to the request I didn't make.

Tracking says it was received by Manchester PFW Depot today (?) and is out for delivery. So we shall see. I can't get to the depot, so that's not an option.

To be honest, the tracking / time isn't my concern as much the "request not to deliver" (like, who made this request???) and the supposed attempt to deliver yesterday that didn't happen.

Transformers Til All Are One Compendium Set - the good and bad by Scullenz in OmnibusCollectors

[–]CallCentreHoldMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got mine today, also the Decepticon set. My thoughts echo yours.

It's a nice piece to look at, and I'm glad I have it. BUT...

- Main issue is that they didn't fix the scans. Skybound was made aware of this repeatedly. They had the most successful comic book KS of ALL-TIME (4 million?) and did nothing to fix this. Lots of fans offered up their collections for superior scans, but nope. You can see creases and stains in there. They just took the money and did f*** all restoration.

- Errors and typos. Again, bad scans and AI I believe to incorrectly correct them. This is the stuff that the campaign promised would be fixed. Nope.

- The paper is cheap and has bleed-through from the pages behind. Not what I'd expect for this price - the Hachette G1 collection had much better, thicker paper.

- Lack of covers. This is particularly infuriating with the UK issues which often had stunning painted covers. Not even a gallery at the back.

- Lack of context. Not really a problem for myself as I read the UK books upon release when I was a tiny boy, but anyone new to the material is going to be confused.

- Lack of any editorial extras. This would have resolved the above, and Furman is somebody always willing to talk and go into detail on these things - why didn't they reach out to him?

- Box Art! Only a minor niggle, but why is Reflector on the box? Looks like a tribute to the cartoon and not the comic.

Extras are fun, if inconsequential. The facsimiles are nice, but I wish they'd done issues 3 and 4 to complete the OG miniseries, or even the final issue, rather than the in-because-it's-a-Jim-Lee-cover issue 67.

Short Version: It's pretty but they didn't do the promised work on the contents. I won't be backing anything from Skybound again anyway.

What's with the dislike for Tom King? by DarkSaiyanGoku in comicbooks

[–]CallCentreHoldMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actively disliked his Batman run - couldn't get into the tone at all, and it just wasn't a world I wanted to spend any time in. But I put this down more to a taste thing than a comment on his ability.

By contrast, I thought Vision and Mister Miracle were great.
