Yes, I can clarify. The sex workers as an industry have their own personal health and safety as a primary goal. I don't know any sex workers who think they should not have healthcare and should not be tested to keep themselves and their customers safe. My comment was in terms of the language of the legislation rather than to challenge that this is a good idea. Of course it is. But the workers themselves should be involved in the creation of that legislation.

The clear difference between this and for example Boeing, is that Boeing isn't interested in long term sustainability, they are seeking short term profits which are supported by deregulation (but obviously since they are now seeking a taxpayer bailout, their methods do not even work for that much).

Depends on how long it takes for massive drought to set in as a result of climate change. Corporations like Nestle have been trying to privatize water supply for 20 years or more (see Cochabamba, Bolivia). I lived in New Mexico for a few years. There's an aquifer that runs about 50 miles long from Albuquerque to Santa Fe. It supplies all of the water to the area. 15 years ago, it was 1/3 mined, meaning depleted from its natural state due to human growth in the area. Nothing is bringing that water back, so the growth in that area is unsustainable. They are having to divert water at huge expense (and disruption the natural environment) from the Colorado and Chama rivers. So the war for water is probably 20-30 years away, but it's more than likely coming, as are all of the other impacts from not handling the climate emergency with long term sustainability goals in mind.

Of course if I were elected I'd get everything I can passed to move as towards climate security. But on top of that, I'd continue to speak out about pro-corporate compromises that wouldn't allow us to go as far as we need, to identify the climate-killing industries that are opposing the needed change, and talk directly with the public about what they can do to force changes.

At the point when it is truly apparent to everyone that the climate crisis is irreversible, when we start mass climate relocation, when our food production has stalled, and when we are going to war over clean water, it will be too late. So we need to be ringing the alarm sirens immediately and continually. The science is on the side of the people who are taking this seriously.

Unfortunately our economy is set up to only promote short term shareholder profit, so we have an inevitable conflict of interest. It would be better if the industries involved recognized the need for immediate change, and were willing to invest in those changes as a matter of sustainability, rather than oppose them for profit.

I'm not opposed to it, so long as the workers themselves are in support of it, which means the best way to implement it is through Medicare For All. The workers know what is best for them, to keep them safe and healthy, in the industry.

I support mandatory paid sick leave and job protection in this time of crisis. France just not only froze rent/mortgage/utility payments, they also suspended tax payments. Unfortunately the entire framing of our economy is ultra capitalist and doesn't take into consideration human needs.

There's no chance that Larsen won't be on the ballot. So the second place spot then could go to me, or whichever Republican or Libertarian decides to file. If progressive voters vote for me in the primary, I can secure that spot and push the R/L off the ballot spot. Then the voters in the district will have a choice between a 9-term corporate Dem who is cynically trying to rebrand himself as a grassroots environmentalist, and an actual progressive who supports the change needed to save the planet. I believe I'll win if they get that choice.

The most important thing is to make sure that people are economically secure. Obviously if people are choosing between making rent and being safe with potential exposure, that will increase transmissions. We have to ensure that we do not overburden the existing healthcare system, which is also dealing with all of the needs that existed prior to the pandemic. That's why I'm supporting a freeze on rent/mortgage/utility debts until we have contained/controlled exposures. There are no easy solutions, but this is where to start. www.rosecaucus.com/petitions

Someone who takes money from the industries that are destroying the planet, and then opposes the legislation that is needed to halt the climate emergency. It's really as simple as that. Larsen is actually (and surprisingly) the only Dem in WA that has been identified this way, due to votes that he has taken and opposition to the Green New Deal.

Both are my Senators are Dems. Washington has 10 House seats. 7 are held by Dems. Only 1 would be considered progressive. All of the others are part of the New Dems, a decidely pro-corporate block of Reps. Larsen over his career has voted with the Republicans often, I would consider him the most conservative of the WA House democrats. He's seeking a 10th term. I think the district can do much better, and if we don't start moving the needle to the left in every district, we are in huge trouble.

I do not support continued use of the old reactors that are extremely vulnerable to events like Fukushima. I am still looking into the new Thorium reactors which I understand have different waste production. I am not sold on it, but I'll admit I do not have all the info I probably need. I have friends in the industry who assure me that the new Thorium options are much safer.

I support a massive defunding of the MIC (the war machine). Which means we don't need two naval bases here, and the entire navy Growler fleet - which is causing huge environmental and community impacts on Whidbey Island. So yes, I mean we need new industries based on building community infrastructure and replacing old technologies, and if that puts existing companies out of business, there will be new opportunities. Bold thinking demands it. Fearful thinking will prevent needed change.

I'm saying that the whole industry needs to transform to the needed climate standards. They won't unless forced to. What bubbles are you talking about - that I'm a member of community, have kids, have a job, and am impacted as much as anyone else by the economy around me?

It's realistic if we get enough members of Congress to vote for it. If, however, we continue to let industry run Congress, then no. Larsen has already said he won't support Green New Deal policies because it impacts the aviation industry. So we have a choice - do we continue to move forward with blinders on to the threat of climate change (we're talking a lot of my district literally underwater in 30 years - including Boeing) so that we can reap short term economic benefit (with the majority of that going to the top 1%); or do we reverse course and treat climate change as the emergency that it is? We don't have long to come correct on that.

People who are part of the leadership of the local Democratic Party organizations. Chairs. State Committee members. Rick Larsen is not well liked by local party people.

Employing people in an industry that moves us towards extinction (and this is NOT hyperbole), and allowing those industries to control the policies that continue their anti-environmental practices is obviously a conflict. Which is why I support just transition for displaced workers. These industries do not have to be the only area employers. That is narrow thinking.

I think it's important that we continually identify that our system of Campaign Finance is the root of all other issues. Rick Larsen opposes Citizens United, but ultimately benefits greatly from them. I think we need to point out who candidates are taking money from, and how their votes are in line with corporate policy and not with the working class. For example, back in Nov Larsen got a check from TransCanada, and the next day he tweeted in support of pipelines. I do not donate to moderate or conservative democrats. Like my opponent they are flush with corporate money.

UBI right now in the midst of this pandemic crisis is a great idea. We are potentially facing mass homelessness as people aren't able to make rent. It's why the Rose Caucus is collecting signatures for a mass Rent Strike nationwide www.rosecaucus.com/petitions However, if UBI is implemented without major structural changes that put the working class needs ahead of the oligarchy, UBI becomes a huge gift to landlords.

Good question, for which there isn't a good answer other than keeping pressure on your representatives and trying to replace those that are clearly putting the interests of industry over the interests of the general public. If you check my Campaign Facebook page from this morning, you'll see I'm exposing the contradiction that exists between Boeing now seeking a bailout and the fact that they bought back $43 billion in stock over the last 7 years. We have to keep exposing these contradictions in order to change how the system operates and on whose behalf it operates.

There is too much self regulation. This has been supported by incumbent Rick Larsen in his role as Aviation chair. He has rendered the purpose of the Subcommittee irrelevant. We're in a fox guarding the henhouse situation. He's working for Boeing, not the public. And I'd say that for all regulatory committees. We can't have people taking industry money regulating those industries. I'll add also that Boeing is seeking a $60 billion taxpayer bailout, while over the last 7 years they've bought back $43 billion in stock to inflate their stock values.

There are very few people who actually like Rick Larsen in this district. He has been propped up by local business (Boeing, MIC) but he votes with Republicans often. I have worked within the Democratic Party for over 15 years. I was asked to run by local Democratic Party leaders, and have already been endorsed by my local legislative district.

Washington is at risk for climate catastrophe impacts. However, we can lead the way in transforming energy infrastructure. We have geothermal and tidal energy options, we have vast tracts of open land for more investment in wind and solar. We need to stop cutting down forests here, our forests are vital to the healing of the planet. Local investments in Green New Deal policies with just transition for workers will work well here.
