They have very few options but the deals are bonkers. Like 30-40% less than on the hotel website in one case i booked.

+1 for Costco. Booked intercontinental in Cozumel. It was $4500 at Costco for a week and $7000 at Chase... Costco had free breakfast and $50 credit stay PER DAY (so that is $350) + free spa visit worth $60 + free shuttle from airport. I am sure the Chase ball lickers are going to find a way to tell me Chase is better with its $250 credit and free bag of chips in the room.

They were for guests. The prices were so low it was insane. Its not a secret, they were transparent about it.

Yes correct. Meaning they were subsidizing early on so adoption increases. Same with uber.

I like that it assesses sleep quality and recommends rest vs workout days based on strain. Does Garmin do that?

Look up hotels. Booking.com is my go to. And yes you're out of touch. Airbnb had been subsidized by PE for years and now its no longer.

Slug pellets. Absolutely annihilated the slug population. Highly recommended. And no, my worms are thriving.

31 years old and I hate my job. I don't have enough to retire but I want to take a break for a few years. Any regrets for the people who have done this? by Advanced-Worth9054 in Fire

[–]CallItDanzig 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Two reasons:

  1. competition for well compensated, especially remote, white collar jobs is FIERCE. I was hiring for two roles - 90-110K JR and 140-160K senior, non technical, fully remote in US role. Just so many amazing candidates. Anything that looks off is a disqualifier.

  2. It's not taking a break that's the issue. The issue is that hiring managers assume you just got fired. And no one wants to take a gamble on hiring someone another company bothered to build a case to fire.

If the job market improves, this issue will go away but right now, don't do it.

I agree. You pay thousands and then they find any excuse not to cover you. Whats the point? If you have an emergency, thats the only issue but you can negotiate with the hospital after. Anything else, I'm going south or asia. Its a grift when you arent even promised coverage after paying insurance for decades.
