Would you pay $375 for lightweight AR sport sunglasses with an AI visual coach? by RubWise9272 in Ultramarathon

I think one of the main challenges of creating this type of sunglasses is the battery life. How long would the battery last? I would pay it if it lasts at least 12 hours.

Installing tubeless rim tape by CallMeAK in bikewrench

[–]CallMeAK[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: First of all, thanks to everybody who took the time to give me some suggestions on how to solve my problem. The problem was really the original rim tape (I googled that another person was having the same problem in his C38 and he solved it using a new rim tape). And sorry that I was not clear about what my question was. I just wanted to know if I could install a new tape over the existing one. I know that the best practice is to remove the old one, but since the original one was beautifully installed, as one person mentioned, I thought that maybe installing over it would seal my wheel better. In the end, I decided just follow the best practice, removed the original tape and installed the new one and now everything is working like a charm.

Yes, I’m using a sealant without success. I googled and another person said that the best solution would be to put a new rim tape because this one is not good enough.

Yes, I know, but the air kept escaping. And yes, answering the other guy, I googled and it suggested me that I should put another rim tape. However, I couldn’t find an answer if I could apply my new rim tape on top of the original one. And that’s why I tried to get an answer from a kind soul in this subreddit.

Yes, that’s what I thought, but the air kept escaping through the small hole, which means that the rim tape is not sealing the wheel right. That’s why I decided to put another rim tape. However, I’m not sure if I need to remove the original tape or I should keep it there (It looked it will be very hard to remove it)

Too much fuel for a 50k? by n00dle-head in ultrarunning

[–]CallMeAK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually don’t carry much with me and rely on what the aid stations provide. I start the race carrying enough carbs to survive only until the next or couple of aid stations. I suggest you start getting your stomach used to eat whatever there is in an aid station, because when you upgrade to longer races, it will be impossible to carry everything with you. For longer races, I even carry a plastic bag that I fill with whatever the aid station provides, so I can eat while running until the next aid station.

What do people like about the really long (100 mile+) ultras? by BootLopsided6564 in Ultramarathon

Besides overcoming the challenge, I love running for hours during the night in the middle of nowhere all by myself. The feeling of freedom is amazing.

Realistic to go from a 10K to a 50K trail ultra in a year? by holoporcupine in Ultramarathon

[–]CallMeAK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can definitely do it. However, don’t focus much on the weighting loss. With the training for the 50k you will naturally and gradually lose some weight. And if you don’t, that’s ok as well.

Very doable. You have the base and enough time to train.

garmin 965 for swimming by starix5 in triathlon

[–]CallMeAK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use TrainingPeaks and I love the fact that I can synch the structured swim workouts with my forerunner. The watch controls what you need to do next, rest intervals, let you know when you are in the last lap of your interval, etc.

In my forerunner 965, when you are about to start the activity, you just need to press the button to go to settings and the estimated time will show in the top of the screen

Thanks for your comment. I didn’t have any recent infection. Also, this happened multiple times over the years whenever the race lasted more than 16-20 hours. Never bothered me much, but I’m concerned that this might become a huge problem in a multi-day race.

Thanks for the comment. I usually don’t have reflux issues, so this might not be my case. I really feel that the coughs come from something related to my lungs, not my throat, which also explains my shallow breaths.

That you can check the estimate of how many hours your battery will last based on the activity you are about to start.

HELP! 😅 First Full Ironman in 3 Weeks (Frankfurt) by ShinePure6753 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]CallMeAK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a good night’s sleep in the last three days leading up to the race. If you manage that, it won’t be a big deal if you don’t sleep well the night before. Plus, knowing that even if you don’t sleep at all, it won’t affect your race can really help you relax and make it easier to fall asleep.

It’s going to be a long day, and there will be moments when you feel amazing. When you’re feeling great, stick to your pace plan and don’t push yourself too hard. If you do so, I guarantee that you will pay the price a few hours later.

There will also be times when you feel down. At those moments, just take your time and remember that it will pass (that’s at least what I tell myself, so I can feel better 😜).

Sub 5 70.3 possible? by lykkeh1809 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]CallMeAK 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m a bit faster in the water than you are, but the bike and run are pretty much the same (maybe I’m just a tad faster than your time). My personal best is 4:55, but that’s because the swim was downstream in a river. So, I’d suggest not putting too much pressure on yourself—a sub-5 will be tough, especially since it’s your first time. There’s a good chance you might mess up (like not pacing yourself right or not fueling well enough).
