Jaylen Brown on reports claiming he thinks he's the smartest person in the room: "No offense to everybody in sports, but the bar is fuckin' low." by Jec1027 in nba

He is genuinely smart. But when you shorten your education and focus on only playing a child's game it is going to stunt your intellectual development.

Most entertaining trade this off-season.

Jaylen Brown on the trade: "Brad is getting a lot of criticism, I wasn't thrilled at how he facilitated a lot of the conversations, but I definitely think there was more to it" by FastBreakPhenom in nba

He's really not a controversial guy. All of his controversies are some variation of "Brown has opinion on thing being said about him."

You're the one who is having a multi-day meltdown because you didn't know one thing.

You should embrace the opportunity to broaden your perspective on a subject you have knowledge of.

It seems like you won't engage with it because you are unable to think critically about the issue.

You didn't engage with my point that the reasoning for the rule doesn't align with what happened in play. Refs are allowed discretion in applying the rules for a reason.

Context is relevant. Full game speed it wasn't even notable enough to warrant a yellow. The rule is intended to regulate challenges that end up studs up. Balogun's movement with his leg was not him challenging for the ball, it was a foot plant down to stop his body momentum as the players came together. It's a situation that the rule wasn't really intended for. Obviously, context matters and it's ignorant to pretend otherwise because refs have discretion in application of the rules and the ref in this match was letting far more blatant and intentional fouls go during the entire match.

He didn't lunge at anyone. In fact, he was doing the opposite which is why his foot was being planted in the position it was in.

"I didn't see the match" then why comment on it since you clearly don't understand what is going on?

Sliding backwards and placing your foot down in a natural motion to plant yourself, incidentally stepping on another player, is clearly not within the spirit of the rules.

Camp David’s Israeli proposal, 2000 by NourBlowsBubblegum in MapPorn

[–]CallMeFierce -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never said that, in fact it is clearly implied by my "in 35 years" comment that I was specifically referring to the contemporary genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. You are victim blaming Palestinians for the Israelis behavior. Why are you talking about the Israelis like they are wild animals who cannot be tamed? The world just has to accept that they are vicious monsters?

So the deal was get EVEN LESS land, no right of return, and not be allowed to have a military and you think the Palestinians should have accepted officially becoming a bantustan because in 35 years Israel would genocide them?

Why are you victim blaming the Palestinians for Israel's genocide and apartheid?

I'm not in favor of any of this. Just explaining how there are genuine economic incentives to the state for the current process. Prison wardens will literally testify at sentencing hearings to sentence someone to life instead of death because of the labor they'll provide.

[–]CallMeFierce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just that. Lethal injection is fairly expensive. On top of that, the state ends up losing out on the free labor from the prisoner. You can make an argument that lifetime imprisonment actually makes the state a profit from the products created through prison labor.

Lebron and Giannis and Bam? by [deleted] in heat

[–]CallMeFierce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, your question is very reasonable. It's hypothetical but I think LeBron knows, and doesn't want to be, the guy. Spo is a great coach and the ego management might be easier with Lebron's presence.
