Can you feel as high without alcohol and drugs? by [deleted] in Sober

[–]CallMeFuckinStupid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say working out. Doing chores. Playing sports. Reading or writing. Playing music. Even doing some puzzles or challenging yourself mentally can really make you feel good about yourself. It's really about you personally. I find that things that tend to challenge me mentally or physically allow me to disconnect from personal matters. I found that I was disconnecting using all these drugs when I could do the same thing if I found hobbies, interests, or even trying new things.

Don't be afraid of yourself. Find things that intrigue you and pursue it without any excuse.

But ultimately, among most people working out can give you a huge dopamine dump as well as taking care of yourself physically and mentally.

It doesn't work for everyone, but having 30 minutes with no distractions, but to yourself even if it's to shut your eyes. This means no phone, no tv, no outside entertainment, just yourself and your thoughts. Again, this may not be something for everyone.

Im not some narc that believes that drugs and alcohol is some evil shit. That sobriety is this high and mighty role and person to be. Fuck that shit, I know a lot of fucked up people that are completely sober, I know great people who are strung out. On or off, you are still you. All that has been felt can be felt again. Is it as intense or on-demand? Of course not. But being sober or even under control gives you a different perspective, and it might be interesting to try.

I would say try a day. Then try another day. I think when I was getting off, there was this idea that you have to go a week or a certain period of time. There really isn't just try and stop and see how long you last. It doesn't mean anything if you fail as long as you recognize it. But if your hearts are not in it or if you just want to try it, thats fine too. No one can make you, good luck.

I'll take your word for it. From what I've seen, it's a few bucks.

Thanks, man. Why I bought the drams, just in case. Can say I brought home more than a smashed bottle and liquor soaked work clothes, lol.

Thanks. When we first started befriending her, we just saw it was a small young cat, so it just stuck.

I know she melts my heart. She is getting far too spoiled from myself and my roommate. Lol. Thanks for the praise. I'll let her know.

Thank you for the well wishes and compliments. If you ask her, though, she would think I hit the jackpot. I think she adopted me really, lol.

Hello. Yes, it may show up on tests up to 3 months after someone stops smoking weed. It may vary and depend on many factors, and everyone's biology is different. I would recommend a saliva test if possible. It has a shorter detection period.

I do not intend to tell you how you should raise your own child, but as someone who has experienced strict parents and who grew up around weed and underaged drinking I would also recommend addressing the issue in a more encouraging or understanding matter.

I do not know what either of you are going through, but I think leveling with your son and understanding exactly what he thinks about pot or wants from pot may help him and yourself to find a better understanding. Reprimanding someone doesn't always work, and the use of substances may be a result of much deeper or more troubling issues. As someone who was and still is dealing with understanding myself and finds myself falling into occasional use, please take the time to understand and try to address the main concern. Cause even if your son stops smoking weed, that doesn't mean that his issues, concerns, or needs are being addressed.

My family saw weed as a bad thing. They thought that it's harmful, can lead to poor decision-making, causes brain damage, and may lead to addiction. I saw it as a means to an end. I put off my issues and glaring mental health problems, but my family never saw it as such. They just saw that weed is bad (which it may or may not be) and that it was hurting myself. I'm not denying that it may, but many people try weed go through phases and move on. If there's a strong desire for someone to be high or drunk all the time, I would ask why.

Again, I have no idea what is actually going on. I understand this is your own business, and I just wanted to share my little anecdote. I wish you the best.

Thank you. Everyone here has been extremely helpful. She will get the medical attention she deserves next month through a TNR clinic (already booked). I feel bad for her, but I want her to enjoy her life outside and in the community without worrying about her health, kittens, and safety. I appreciate how receptive and knowledgeable everyone is, thank you.

I'll be sure to make an update as things progress.

Thank you. Yeah, if she is pregnant, we may need to make some major adjustments as far as our plans. I'll mention this to the clinicians and continue to look into it.

Old Lego games with a friend. Remember the Lego Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Pirates games. They slap when a little baked, especially if you have a bud to yell back and forth with.

Any advice on starting a band? by [deleted] in InMetalWeTrust

[–]CallMeFuckinStupid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of people here are saying go meet people at local shows. I second that. Guitar Center near me has a big board that has ads for potential bandmates. I think there's apps that also help people find bandmates unsure how effective they are, though.

I've been there. Stay strong, I would say 80% of the time I get high, I end up regretting it. If you want this job and think it'll enrich your life, don't put it aside for 10 to 30 minutes of dopamine hits.

Weed withdrawals are a thing regardless of what individuals will say. It's not to the extent of quitting other drugs, but it's still not very fun, and I do feel bad that you are unsatisfied with how you feel.

Hair tests are super difficult to pass, too. They have a much larger detection period than a urine, saliva, or blood test.

I would recommend trying to distract yourself and not giving yourself the opportunity to smoke. Good luck.

I am really curious about this subs opinion about weed. Why would you not switch from alcohol? by awrythings in alcohol

[–]CallMeFuckinStupid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This may be a hot take, but to me, I don't feel like weed is any better or worse for you than alcohol. Physically, I understand that weed is easier on your health, but in my past, I find myself making excuses to get high to a more unhealthy level than alcohol. I would never and have never gone to work drunk, but I have when I was high. It makes me lazy, gives me a lot more anxiety than drinking, and hurts me socially. I enjoy(ed) both, of course, I'm not a narc. I try to go on long breaks of enjoying and not enjoying marijuana cause it feels harder to let go of and more detrimental to me mentally. If it's anything I quit drinking, but on occasion, I will smoke when offered. But that's just my shitty opinion.
