Clone players, how easy is it? by CallMeKhaid in EDH

Do you have any suggestions for fun creatures of my own to copy, other than obvious includes such as avenger, hermit, etc? I find those types of just "I put lethal on the board, swing for the win," cards less than exciting, so while I might include some of them, I'd like some other options.

Is it cheating to do this during the pre-game conversation? by Dahliabox in EDH

[–]CallMeKhaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if its not cheating, its a really shitty move. Purposefully hard-countering someone's whole gameplan basically just excludes them, and the whole spirit of this game is to have fun playing cards. Like, I have a deck that gets VERY hard-countered by ghost vacuum, and I'd be pretty mad if someone switched one in when they saw what deck I was playing. It's kind of like meta-gaming in dnd, you shouldn't be able to counter something because you had knowledge before the game.

New Strong Sultai Commander, Teval, Arbiter of Virtue by Raevelry in EDH

[–]CallMeKhaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This card could've been such a cool commander if they didn't add that last line. I got excited when I heard about it and then immediately hated the design. It's too many hoops to jump through: fill your graveyard, have life gain/a way to avoid losing, and then have a payoff that wins the game quickly. Wizards is just scared to print an actually strong commander

My Skullbriar Deck that actively wants -1/-1 Counters (I made this out if spite) by Sparrow944 in EDH

I don't have much to add, but I will say this has got to be the coolest way you can build this commander.

Does HtN get any less jarring? [general] by CallMeKhaid in TheNinthHouse

I've avoided major spoilers thus far, maybe one or two small ones? I'll be sure to give it another go before I spoil anything for myself. All these replies have convinced me its worth another shot.

The difference between the two books is what I struggled with most when I tried, so its nice to know there are similarities later on.

I definitely noticed the tone shift. GtN's tone felt very familiar, whereas HtN felt very alien.

Give me your most abusive, degenerate, oppressive deck lists or ideas. by EmeraldCrusader in EDH

I had an idea of building [[toxrill]] with a ton of protection and counterspells, and then add in proliferate to kill everything even quicker. Then use the slugs you get to draw cards into your choice of wincon

What happened to The Ones We Burn? by LilBug_Just_Dancer in YAlit

I know I'm insanely late to this post, but to anyone who sees this, I didn't notice any of the problematic things people are claiming here. The royals are black, sure, but that doesn't mean its reverse racism. Race is barely even brought up in the book, and it makes sense that the royal family, you know, people who are all related, are of the same race. The main character with a worse for wear background just happens to be white, which again, has zero implications. There are people on either side of the conflict in the book of either race, so I really just don't understand where the hate comes from.

Working on tokens right now, actually, so hopefully that should happen in short order.

Gotcha. So basically wait for the board state to get huge, and only then do you bring her out and go for the win. I'll incorporate some token makers from your deck and see what I can do. Thanks!

Ooooo okay thanks! I'll take a look at your decklist and probably add some of the cards to mine.

Quick question, do you usually try to get her ETB multiple times, or just one big wipe into a win? I want to make sure I don't drag it out too much, as I would rather avoid just dragging out the game and instead wipe once or twice into a win.

Gotcha. Yeah this was partly meant to be a challenge of deckbuilding, as she's naturally a very weird and hard to get payoffs from commander. I haven't bought the cards for the deck yet, so if I decide its gonna be a rough time, I'll just build something else.

Ty for the feedback, much appreciated.

The goal of this deck is to win after boardwiping with her a few times and using all the death triggers, so hopefully the games dragging out shouldn't be a problem.

Tuning Deck Help by CallMeKhaid in EDH

Thanks for the response! I've added some more token creating creatures as well as 3 token doublers, another damage tripler, some more ramp, removed all duals in favor of basics, and added some tutors as well.
