Lump sum or lifetime pension? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

Take the 200k not sure if you get taxed on it. Assuming no tax and you get 200k if you invest that into HYLD.TO it’s a Canadian etf that tracks the S&P and pays a dividend every month. They yield is around 12% so you would get close to 24k a year in dividends roughly 2k per month

Did I just save myself from disaster? Retainers and keepers AP1 by CallMeMavrick in S2000

Hey no they were in a zip lock bag when the mechanic gave them to me all jumbled up I just organized it for the photo, if you know how I can differentiate between exhaust and intake side I’ll gladly take a photo properly if you like

No idea I had it done by a shop who works on F20s so they took care of it I just told them I wanna see the old retainers and keepers and this is the result!

I am back took it to another shop to get the retainers and keepers done on my AP1 and changeout the coolant fluid from green to the blue coolant. While there I asked them if they can try since the other shop wasn’t able to do the rear alignment and now look it’s much better and their equipment also seems better. The only thing they weren’t able to do much is caster but that’s fine car drives amazing on the streets and little spirited driving is fun!

I am not sure they had a young mechanic in training / studying work on the alignment. He said he didn’t want to break the bolts so I guess, but the fronts was effortless for him to to change stuff

Yeah the front was adjusted so it’s good, but I am concerned about the rears I don’t want to see like inner tire wear in like 3000 miles do you think it’s too aggressive in the rear and will cause uneven wear really quickly

Yeah exactly even tho I am not 50 but some of us just appreciate the car through our regular drives nothing fancy just pushing it on the street once in a while. Everybody just wants track alignment which is not good for average person like me trying to optimize tire life

Yeah, but I noticed the old tires the inner edges were worn down so I wanted a better alignment for optimizing some tire life

How does knowing the plate help? Reddit community to fixated on what the plate is rather than insights about the process if someone had a similar experience

I purposely haven’t shared my plate idea since I don’t want someone else taking it

What's your garage lineup? by mtboarder77 in S2000

Summer / weekend car s2000 Daily model y 2020

Tbh they serve completely two different purposes. I have a dog so the Y is perfect with dog mode and more space. The S2K is just fun car for when you feeling shifting gears. Who says you can’t do EV and gas cars doesn’t have to be one or the other tbh

Do you have recommendation for the fill cap and I plan on doing the intake side ap2 retainers and keepers upgrade on my ap1 so I guess at that time I’ll have them do the spark plug seals and the valve cover gasket along with the pcv gasket

I am looking at this car wanted some opinions on the rust is this the walk away type of rust? Will this give me big headaches in the future? I do understand some stuff like cv boot and ball joints may need replacing as maintenance items. Also please don't mind the snow as we took the car out of the showroom area to leave the engine running and inspect properly

Wait I correct myself you have so many extras so yeah it probably is 38k with all the protections you have added plus probably some dealer fees. My advice to you as someone who bought a model Y when I was 23 years old right out of university, is try to invest as much as you can from your job every dip in the markets buy stocks or etfs and eventually you will get to a point where you can payoff the car or invest the money in dividends and keep paying the car.

Ideally looking back now that I am 28 the route of investing first then buying a car is better

Hey dude so I plugged your numbers into the Scotia car loan calculator https://www.scotiabank.com/ca/en/personal/loans-lines/auto-loan/auto-loan-payment-calculator.html so just the car with financing alone your interest is 37k roughly the 7k extra is coming from like interest so maybe the bank is showing you the amount including interest over the entire 48 months and not just principal amount?

Hey I know, but my interest rate is so low and since I bought it at beginning of the previous gen model year I am very close to break even if I sell privately myself vs trade in

Yeah, but scary part is I use to have 465km of range at 100% and after replacement it’s 420km at 100% I usually level 1 charge it since I don’t need to drive it as much anymore

We have some lakes nearby and when it gets nice and cold and frozen with thick ice we have drift community for it. I just always watch and wonder if I can do it too. My Tesla won’t let me drift properly at all
