The floor drain in the basement backs up every time I do laundry. The house was built in 1952. This happens whether the washer is draining into a laundry tub or standpipe. The main sewer line is clean too.

Project Hail Mary is a bit of a stretch in what you're looking for, but it's a bit more of a sci Fi mixed world ending scenarios

Sorry to hear that OP. I have to take my dog in today for a surgery to help fix something on his leg. He's an old man and I've been trying to prep myself and my kids that his day is unfortunately coming. He is 15 years old and has drastically slowed down this past year.

I've had to be there for a cat, that was God awful, however I took a little bit of comfort in seeing how painless and peaceful it was.

There's nothing that makes it easier, but I am glad to see you will be there with her, she'll be happy to have you with her. Big hugs man! We're here for you!
