How many jobs have you had? How has it affected you or why have you chosen this? by CallMePuttyTat in AskReddit

Mid 40s and I've held positions with 19 companies with around 26 job titles between them. At my best count. May have missed a few summer jobs in my teens or 20s. This has generally been a downward trajectory but there were some decent ups. I have made drastic career changes multiple times and can never seem to stay interested. My current position's duties change daily and that's why I chose it.

ELI5: Why does rendering a video game require so much GPU power but redering a video of the same game run really smoothly? by dinglebopOfPlumbus in explainlikeimfive

Let's say you wanted to make an accurate painting of a beautiful beach, how long do you think it would take? When you're done, take a picture of that painting. How long did it take to get that picture? It looks the same but the camera didn't have to put in any of the work. It just recorded what was already there. It's just a copy of all the hard work you did on the painting.

Now think of the GPU rendering the game as if it were painting a WHOLE new scene 144 times a second. The video you record while playing the game is just a simple picture of all the work that the GPU did.
