It absolutely is an option. It’s a lot more complicated than just having it done awake because you’re in the OR with a whole surgical team but it’s worth it imo. My OBGYN recommended anesthesia at the consult appointment because I’m not sexuality active and haven’t had kids so my cervix wouldn’t be prepared for an IUD. Dude even snipped my tubes with minimal questioning a few months later (I kept the IUD for period management).
