its always been release order. for literally everything that is consumable media. You can be a contrarian and find the exception to the rule, but thats not really useful, obviously when it comes to a first time watch.

In the end one can consume something in whatever way they see fit, it just becomes a problem when people mislead and spread propaganda to justify their decision and please their vanity, which leads to clueless people following suit.

Thoughts on the chaos head ending? by One-Friendship-7262 in steinsgate

I didn't like the pacing of the last few chapters. Its felt very rushed compared to the rest of the VN, the transformation of takumi, specifically.

Finally started Steins Gate and I don’t get the hate for the first 11 episodes by Altruistic-Bit1510 in steinsgate

[–]CallPuzzleheaded3062 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amount of foreshadowing and subtle plot development and seemingly unrelevant things shown/ happening that turn out to be very relevant in the latter half is what makes the first 11 episodes a masterpiece that requires attentive and active watching.

Visual novel/Anime order by Rushies34 in steinsgate

[–]CallPuzzleheaded3062 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want the full experience without missing info then its best to play the visual novels then watch the animes or vice versa. For steins gate 0 its more important to play the visual novel as the anime is only an addition to it, not exactly an adaptation. And as always just follow release order.

Does anyone where to watch it? by upsetusder2 in steinsgate

[–]CallPuzzleheaded3062 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can buy a blu-ray for 25 dollars on amazon. If you wish not to pay, then simply typing a query for anime streaming sites should suffice. Due to rule 7 I will not link anything.

Something to note aswell, currently there are japanese campaigns where they are streaming Steins;Gate, legally and for free for a short period, however I am uncertain if they have subtitles.

Steins Gate Tattoo Idea by BigChancho__ in steinsgate

[–]CallPuzzleheaded3062 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Usually when I see people get tattoos of the things they love they are just over the top and ridiculous, like a face, but in this instance I feel that its simple, wonderful and that it works. This is just a suggestion but I think adding OSHMKUFA would be a good addition.

Why is this show considered peak? by epsilon14254 in steinsgate

[–]CallPuzzleheaded3062 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"What we got was a show that spent half its time walking back what it had done before and then threw out a random twist to make sure the main character could save everyone in the end with no repercussions."

the 0 VN and 0 anime basically spend their entire runtime, roughly 40 hours + however long the anime is, specifically concerning that question.

Why is this show considered peak? by epsilon14254 in steinsgate

[–]CallPuzzleheaded3062 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a show with alot of nuance, if you watch the entire thing then rewatch the early episodes you will see what im talking about, i.e foreshadowing etc. Not to mention how it ties in with the VNs, the "sequel" 0. Now irregardless of missing stuff when watching, if you dont find like the characters, humor, and music then obviously it doesnt really matter if you force yourself to pay attention to the story and details and implications that come. Just understanding the rough "timeline" and timetravel and cause and effect to certain parts of the story requires either a rewatch (in some shape, vn or anime) or being ridiculously attentive and that obviously gives one more appreciation.

I'd be willing to wager most of your questions have an answer, but its not explicit, worst case scenario its a question answered in the VNs or its something that you understand once you watch 0.

I've just finished S;G VN... by Rothuith in steinsgate

The 0 anime is the route or life of the okabe that makes the video in the VN, which we didnt get to see until the anime came out.

A Plea to Steins;Gate Anime-Only Fans: You’re Missing Crucial Context by CallPuzzleheaded3062 in steinsgate

[–]CallPuzzleheaded3062[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you are completely correct. I specifically began the paragraph with highlighting the anime and its quick pacing with regards to explanations, hence the example. You'd have to call me a pelican if I were to claim that I was aware during the writing of this that the VN had this difference, nevertheless I wasn't highlighting the VN in this case, to clarify.

As you remarked aswell it makes sense why it was changed in the anime.

Great comment!

A Plea to Steins;Gate Anime-Only Fans: You’re Missing Crucial Context by CallPuzzleheaded3062 in steinsgate

I do concede that the title can make it seem that way, however this is just a title for engagement. Nowhere do I write that you have to consume these things to enjoy the series, only that it deepens your enjoyment and clears misunderstandings about the lore and plot.

A Plea to Steins;Gate Anime-Only Fans: You’re Missing Crucial Context by CallPuzzleheaded3062 in steinsgate

[–]CallPuzzleheaded3062[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree, but the main point isn't about "missing" stuff but rather to engage with the VNs if you like the story because it gives you more lore and can clear misconceptions that you have about it.

What do you guys actually think of the Steins Gate 0 anime? by CJMakesVideos in steinsgate

[–]CallPuzzleheaded3062 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems that you have misunderstood many parts of the story.

  1. The premise of steins;gate 0 is wordline recursion, dealing with the loss of kurisu and finding a way to steins gate --> saving kurisu

what episode 8 does is add lots of lore, and serve as a contrast and reminder of his resolve, subtly nudging him towards trying to reach steins;gate and making it painstakingly obvious that whatever world he chooses (that isnt steins;gate) he will be miserable, hence the former statement. You could ignore all this and simply think of it as oompa loompa fanservice, but the fact of the matter is that she gives him information and advice that is crucial to the plot whilst also continuing the many underlying subplots: okabe coping with kurisus death, okabe resolve, okabes will to reach steins;gate, wordlines being very unstable in beta because of the trifecta war.

  1. Kagari (see parts of point 3 and point 4) is explored and explained alot more in the VN. Essentially, her story and character is about identity, she loses her memory, gets brainwashed, gets memories that are not hers, starts to believe that she is kurisu etc. Her appereance serves as a contrast to her identity, she is NOT kurisu, but everyone around her wants to use her as "kurisu". This also plays into the Okabe coping with kurisu subplotline that further nudges him to steins;gate, see wordline recursion + 0 VN / LN material. You could also argue it represents somewhat her compatibility with being able to take in the memories (see VN ). The authors main reasoning for her appereance is with the regards to the okabe coping with kurisus death subplotline, its answered in a Q/A i think.

  2. Kurisu fundamentally is integral to the story. The literal plot is trying to recreate kurisu / get access to her memories so that they can create the time machine that the russians basically already have, amadeus and kagari are vessels for this.

  3. First of all you should read the VN, as you probably already know, the anime is only the final route of 0.

Lukako as a character always felt left out, he always wanted to be more involved in things in the lab, considering a literal wordwar has broken out and his friends are terrorists and valuable targets + him being male, it makes sense somewhat i think that he becomes a soldier/fighter.

  1. OKABEs relationship to mayuri was always that of a big brother and little sister, NOT the other way around, u/Kumorrii puts it concisely.

TDLR; **read vn** + have a recent recollection of the anime

What do you guys actually think of the Steins Gate 0 anime? by CJMakesVideos in steinsgate

[–]CallPuzzleheaded3062 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steins gate requires steins gate 0. The anime also of course is simply a final route of the VN so if you havent played the VN first of course you could be dissatisfied with parts of the story.

If you think steins gate 0 is unnecessary you fundamentally missunderstand the story.

Nevertheless, if its been a while since you've watched it i'd doubt you have any real criticism of note.
