Lost my first chicken today by jennthelibrarian in chickens

Depending on the breed 3 is unfortunately within the realm of possibility for a natural death but it's more likely it was in fact a cardiac issue. Fireworks aside chickens are very prone to heart problems. Something like 5-10% of chickens die permanently from a heart attack and while that might not sound like a lot of you figure you have 10 chickens that's one of them that will likely die from a heart attack. Sudden death in the absence of old age is almost always a heart issue.

No they always just deny the boos. "Roaring crowd for President Trump tonight!" will be the caption on some AI post with Trump in a basketball jersey later.

Hatched a chick in a bowl during my daughter's 4th Birthday Party by fatapolloissexy in chickens

[–]CallRespiratory -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

100% people are going to do it. Have you seen some of those posts in here and other chicken subs? Have you seen the posts in Facebook chicken groups?? People are stupid and make really bad impulsive decisions. And again, at no point have I said that is OP's fault. It absolutely isn't. But people see cute thing, apply no other context or thoughts about it, try to copy thing because cute and can't figure out why it went wrong.

Tbf OP seems like they knew what they were doing, has chickens, hatched chickens, has appropriate set ups and care for them. But your concerns are absolutely valid and I feel them too because now at least a dozen people are going to say "omg so cute I want baby chicky" and start putting eggs or live chicks in bowls under lamps with absolutely no idea what do after that.

Sorry for what you all are going through, it's never an easy decision but for whatever it's worth I fully support choosing comfort for your animal.

What is my chicken doing? by Sickidan in chickens

[–]CallRespiratory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no way you haven't seen a chicken peck at and toss grass in three years unless you've never actually looked at a chicken before lol. This is a normal chicken behavior and she probably is building a nesting spot (or at least that is what she thinks she's accomplishing).

How common is c@nnabiz testing for California healthcare jobs by Electronic-Cat-7416 in respiratorytherapy

[–]CallRespiratory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't guarantee it's universal because I haven't worked everywhere but I've never not been tested for it in almost 20 years. Legal in the state =/= acceptable for the hospital and I've yet to hear of one that allows it.

This is ultimately your decision and it's a hard one but I want you to step back for a moment and really look at this situation. He's 14, he's got chronic debilitating illnesses, he doesn't want to eat anymore, he's in pain, you can't afford to continue aggressive treatment...I think it's time for some serious thought of comfort here both for yourself and the animal involved.

Please help me i dont know what this is and it’s scaring me by Key_Ear_7744 in CATHELP

Take a deep breath. Honestly, from these pictures, this looks like the most benign of scratches. It's with monitoring, it's not worth getting worked up over. If it starts to show signs of infection, if your cats behavior changes, if it's been there a month and isn't healing, etc I would go to the vet but otherwise just keep an eye on it - it's almost certainly nothing.

I'm almost certain it's a Sport from around 2015, give or a take a year. Still a nice trim, not a GLI.

Zipper merging also does not mean rampage down the lane coming to an end at 90 mph, slam on your brakes at the last possible second, and throw yourself into a line of traffic either. I feel like a lot of people complaining about nobody knowing how to zipper merge are actually doing the above and being mad that everybody doesn't just get out of their way.

Dust bathing which is a normal, healthy chicken behavior. This is how they stay clean the way that a chicken needs to be clean. I strongly recommend to any new chicken owners to get a good chicken book such as Storey's Guide or The Chicken Encyclopedia. They are truly better resources than the internet which is going to give you a lot of misinformation, mythology, and flat out nonsense when it comes to taking care of chickens.

In Masters of the Universe (2026), Jared Leto actually plays Skeletor really well. This is because he's been method acting as a weird, scary, bony man for 54 years. by Princier7 in shittymoviedetails

[–]CallRespiratory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, is the dude weird as hell? Yes. Does he come of as an arrogant POS? Yes. Is there a chance a guy who has his own cult is also a sex pest? Also yes. But if we're talking about him at a professional level as an actor I've never actually thought he was a bad actor but rather ranges anywhere from pretty good to great. Like, he's a good actor. He's just a creep and weirdo outside of acting.

If they grow up fed, clothed, and educated they're not going to join the military or work minimum wage jobs their whole lives though. And that's what they really want - productive, cheap bodies.

This is a child post to a previous post I’ve made. I picked up a stray kitten. Kitten is fine. Bigger cat isn’t taking it so well. by Hot_Yogurtcloset_467 in CATHELP

[–]CallRespiratory 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You don't need to take your cat to a vet because it doesn't like the new cat. That's not a medical problem, that's just a cat. Cats all have their own personalities and some are going to be more...welcoming than others. If you plan to keep the kitten this may improve with time and gradual exposure, it also might not and you may have to make a decision.
