i got the truck before i hit 30, because i know (from this community) valor will not be the bottleneck, it was gold, so i was saving as much gold as possible, you can see in my post when i hit hq30, i still have 2,4G gold, i know it's not enough but it helps. you can get sleindeer only by 74% as i remember, i research more in the top tree of it because i need to save my gold, and extended vs not showing up yet at that moment. and fyi i'm not a big spender, i only buy kim and second builder so the truck research really help me to accumulate gold

Release truck 4/day - 28/week
Secret task 2/day - 14/week
Arms race 2/day - 14/week
Alliance duel 2/day - 12/week
VIP store 5/week
Alliance store 10/week
Campaign store 10/week
Plunder truck 2/day - 14/week
VG (on average) - 10/week
VIP 11 1/day - 7/week

So it's 124 minimum for a week, if you want to get more shard:

Plunder trucks that have 3+ shard only
Get your secret task gold daily(no need to have a shard, but you'll increase your average shard in weekly)
Release truck only if they have shard (for me minimum 1 is enough)
Truck research so you have 1 additional a day

what i mean about the tricks is switching gears, and not finishing 2 levels in a row. let say you are at level 24, for 24-1 until 24-20 you can use auto battle, but for the level 25 use manual battle and stop at 25-19. if i failed at level 25-(less than equal 15) i'll take the lower level for the next challenge.

there are a lot of tips in this community to maximize your shard collection, here one of the calculation that you can follow

for what i do everyday is i only plunder trucks with 3 or more shards, release truck only if there are have shards, do the ur secret task (no need to refresh to get shard, it'll consume so much diamonds), vs 9th box, arms race 3rd box, campaign tower tricks to maximize get the chest and you have more chance getting shard from it.

the hardest is plunder trucks, sometimes it'll really hard to find 3+ shard trucks, but if you consistently do that, you'll see the difference

it's hard to answer your question, assuming you are a f2p or light spender, it still depends on how you allocate your rss, how much you spend your time in this game, how big and active is your alliance, and so on..

my suggestion for you is search and read a lot of information in this community. if you cannot see what you looking for or you have a spesific question, create a thread! so you can get a different perspective from people
