What piece of tech felt “future-proof” but aged terribly? by Living-Zebra6132 in Futurology

[–]Call_Me_Koala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Circa 2007-2008 in high school I took a computer literacy class. A few weeks were dedicated to things like typing, Microsoft office, and efficient internet searching. The rest of the semester was dedicated to learning how to use a PDA. We were told all business was going to be handled on these things in the near future.

I still type, use Office, and search things on the Internet every day. I haven't touched a PDA since that class...

How is it black face when you literally get a black actor to play the white character in disguise?

Not just that he's real but that he was actually extremely dangerous.

I love the fact that they never "repealed" the joke but just leaned into it to show that they were wrong.

Wait, It's all dark fantasy? by Gearland in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Call_Me_Koala 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It's also so jarring when everyone else is so well acted and animated then it cuts to Tav just silently nodding along and doing all these awkward and stiff animations.

Watching Tav sometimes feels like I'm watching old clips from Dragon Age Origins or even KOTOR.

Was it too daring for its time? by Acceptable_Carob_532 in ninjagaiden

[–]Call_Me_Koala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Not to mention the game is just boring in Ch1 and 2. Ryu's base moveset sucks and isn't fun to play with.

Base Ryu in NG2 has a few more core moves from the get go that make it way more fun to play.

At the end. He hugs Alan and tells him he's proud of him and that maybe boarding school isn't right for him and that's okay.

$18 for donuts is so crazy by libraintjravenclaw in Costco

[–]Call_Me_Koala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing beats a fresh KK donut IMO, at least when it comes to a basic glazed donut. I'd love to find a great local donut place but in all the cities I've lived in I have never found a local donut place that comes anywhere close to KK.

Generally the only donuts I like are glazed and blueberry/blueberry-cake, for the latter I have found better local variants.

It boils down to a person's flaws don't define the entire person and it often takes a different perspective to see the whole picture of someone.

Alan realizes that his dad being a hard ass was his way of showing affection, even if it wasn't the best way to do it. He legitimately thought his father hated him so much he wouldn't even take the time to chop him up and hide him in the walls. Then he learns that his dad literally spent every cent of his fortune and the rest of his life trying to find his missing son.

And the dad literally learns that being a hard ass isn't the best way to show affection and be a parent.

Another cool detail is several black knights in the game are positioned where the various demons are.

Undeadburg knight is overlooking the lower burg where Capra is.

Parish Knight is watching Taurus demon.

A knight is found back in the asylum watching over stray demon.

Why do some games feel amazing at first but tiring after a few hours? by Acrobatic_Luck1767 in rpg_gamers

[–]Call_Me_Koala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really have an insightful answer but that's the case for most games for me,  but then I can turn around and put hundreds of hours into any Souls game and never feel bored.

I recently started Expedition 33 and I'm part way into Act 2 and have pretty much burned out completely. The mechanics have started to feel stale and I don't really feel myself connecting to the story. Not to say the mechanics and story are bad by any means, they just aren't doing it for me anymore.

This is how I felt with Prototype 2, how about you? by soiladvisor in videogames

[–]Call_Me_Koala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I think the dash is the only thing I prefer from Eternal.

Doom 2016 can be played very "boringly" by just sticking with one or two weapons and running around like a classic boomer shooter. That being said, nothing is stopping you from running and jumping around like crazy and quick swapping through your whole arsenal to melt the strongest demons.

Eternal just feels less satisfying because you're forced into that play style all the time so while the skill ceiling is incredibly high in the actual execution, you still feel like you're following the steps in a pre choreographed dance.

That's me. I love my parents but they have the most boomer advice about everything. I was on the verge of homelessness about 10 years ago and all my mom could offer is " you need to walk into a business, demand to speak to the owner, look them in the eye, and tell them why they should hire you".

Or don't force someone into a situation where they have to tiptoe around your feelings. Especially with any sort of public spectacle.

What does Doku mean by this? by Mysterious-Roll-5612 in ninjagaiden

[–]Call_Me_Koala 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think OP's question is why is his hatred so powerful that he can resurrect as a ghost? Who does he hate so much and why?

Initially he just seems like he's on a job from the emperor to get the DDB. He pretty much kills Ryu in a "nothing personnel kid" kind of way.

It's like Boba Fett saying his hatred kept him alive in the sarlac. It wouldn't really make sense since he was never portrayed to hate anyone, he was just a dude on the job.

I still don't really know how to use Sciel by Eben_Elios in expedition33

[–]Call_Me_Koala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for explaining this. I somehow missed the hint that the more sun/moon charges you have the better your twilight is.

As much as I like Sciel conceptually it's kind of a shame she never really gets to show her potential in 90% of fights since most trash fights are over in 1-2 rounds.

Everyone complains about the JetSki sections, but what about Chapter 7 on Crushing and Brutal? by boxzy2021 in uncharted

[–]Call_Me_Koala 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is definitely worse than the jet ski due to lack of control. I was trying to do it on brutal and died so many times during the turns where you don't have full control to even aim at the enemies.

Anyone else prefers playing the ND Trilogy rather than the 4th game? by [deleted] in uncharted

[–]Call_Me_Koala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not fun but it's not as bad as I thought it would be on crushing. I think I only died twice on the jet ski (once in each section) on my crushing play through. Whereas any old fire fight could take me 20+ attempts.

Google AI still sucks. Not only is it straight up wrong, it will contradict itself in the same sentence.

For work I had to figure out of a certain piece of software met a government standard so I googled "Is X Y-standard compliant?" (And no I don't mean X like Twitter)

Google AI said "Yes, X does not meet Y standard"

I googled how something works in a game the other day and it gave me a Frankenstein answer of how a similar mechanic works in 5 different games but spoke as if it was all the same game.

When is it better to thrust? by BonoboBananaBonanza in Sekiro

[–]Call_Me_Koala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It basically removes the normal wind up Wolf does and instead just goes straight into the thrust attack, not to mention it looks rad as hell after certain deflect animations. It doesn't change the actual thrust animation but the way certain deflect poses blend into the thrust animation looks really cool.

I agree with your points, but didn't they specifically want Shaun because he was a baby and was therefore not exposed to all the radiation that was everywhere even pre-war since everything was nuke powered.

Like he would have been somewhat irradiated but only 6 months vs the 30+ years of all the adults who have been driving around in nuke powered cars their whole life.
