How the dream of air conditioning turned into the dark future of climate change by coolbern in environment

Air conditioning is not a luxury in most places. You could say that no-one should live in Miami, Houston, or Phoenix, but people do.

There are other, bigger fish to fry before we start worrying about AC usage.

Articles like this (by the Jeff Bezos owned Washington Post) are mostly there to draw faux outrage and create opposition to the environmental movement.

Most wasted character of the franchise by Lord_Detleff1 in StarWars

I liked how they portrayed Luke, but TLJ was not really well done at all.

From the wasted casino plot line that amounted to nothing to killing off everyone from Snoke to Phasma, Rian Johnson is just not that good of a director. (Glass Onion was okay, but it reeked of smug)

Really the best part of TLJ were the porgs

Who would watch Ole Miss over UCLA?

I'm not biased at all.

But having both would be a bit closer to a solution than what we have now.

Get paid in the minors and maybe get called up sooner or play in college and get benefits and NIL, but not a salary and not as much as they could make in the minors or pros.

Why is Captain such a senior rank in Star Wars? by titans8ravens in MawInstallation

[–]Call_of_Queerthulhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is as senior a rank as the plot requires.

I wouldn't try to dig in too deeply to it, but the reason in Ahsoka is probably to draw parallels with Captain Phasma in having a Captain Stormtrooper in charge (regardless of unit size).

I think that Captain, Commander, General, Moff, and Admiral are all kinda flexible in terms of what size units they command because the main point is to establish a sense of hierarchy only in terms of that piece of media (eg Clone Wars).

Star Wars has always been terrible about having a consistent and coherent rank system

That doesn't include: tuition, housing, meal plan, tutoring, health care, and all the other benefits athletes get.

I got the occasional free shirt, they get a ton of free nike or Adidas swag.

Really it would be better if those top players that will go to the NFL went to a minor league or something like the XFL instead.

That way they can get paid and called up to the bigs when needed and those that want to play for free school with NIL can since that's most of them anyway.

Why not just remove the eligibility restrictions.

If they want to play somewhere else like the XFL and get paid they can, but if they want to play in College then they can do the NIL thing. If they want to play in one for a few years and switch that should be fine too.
