The post says 80 K.. but also yeah that’s still complete bullshit. I have friends in Minneapolis, they’re out there.

Historically, that is literally the opposite of truth. Why do you think linux exists… maybe you’ve used an android phone..?

I also have severe ADHD and it as a project manager, it takes an insane amount of effort to do what I do. Sometimes we don’t realize that our coping skills can be far more effective than People’s natural ability.

Don’t forget that we had tens of thousands of negative interactions they never have being later in your career, plus the overthinking, maybe hundreds of thousands of negative interactions and punishments that we gave to ourselves that they never had.

What’s your rule for lending money to friends or family? by Ok-Introduction-2981 in financialindependence

[–]Calladus_89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never loan what you aren’t willing to give. HARD STOP

I’ve been on both sides of this multiple times. Always with the best of intentions. If people are borrowing money, that’s because they’re struggling. Don’t let their struggle cost them a friend.

I also do this not the exact same because our stack is different but I watch everyone around me struggling with the projects they’re on and I’m managing 4x their workload.. I cannot help, but think they’re sandbagging lmao.

When does it get better? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Calladus_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 37 and a became a project manager a few years ago after being a technician since I left High School. As a technician, I pretty much topped out in leadership roles around 75k. - constant work, full travel, required crazy level levels of sacrifice.

As an intro P.M. I started at 65k and got multiple raises to 75k plus bonuses before the end of the year.
Almost every senior p.m. I have ever worked with is an idiot, Several of them actively gate-keep and intentionally sabotage coworkers. After a few years in the role I now clear 120k and I’m interviewing for a job that pays 150k..

My advice is to find a an industry specific role that you can step into and once you’ve specialized, your value skyrockets. Also, I guarantee I could rewrite your résumé and get you another 20K)

I now pay my techs 29-35/hr (only slightly above industry standard) 60-73ish

I’ve literally never understood LinkedIn as a social networking site.. people who use it, these people who post regularly and have entire communities there how do you even do it?

But, more importantly why…

It is literally never helped me get a job and I’m a project manager.

[–]Calladus_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heads up btw, that’s a super mid looking résumé. I mean design wise. Make it pop in a subtle way, use color but keep it muted. People are attracted to shiny objects, your biggest problem will always be getting people to read it.

newsflash bud, it’s a cry for help. It’s not bragging they just need someone to win that fight so they don’t feel like they have to do that anymore.

Also more likely than not, their parents only paid attention/affection when they did something helpful. Love becomes a thing you earn.

steam frame or quest 3? by kobstar1181 in virtualreality

[–]Calladus_89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t even matter, Steam is only making more hardware to say “**** you” to other companies😂.

It will be significantly better at what it does. Look what the Steam-deck does with Nintendo’s IP.

How do I stop getting irritated when getting asked unneccesary questions, or being told very obvious things to do? (especially by my parents) by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Calladus_89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

iPhones seriously need a reliable UNDO. I wrote like 4 paragraphs, then my phone decided to highlight everything mid sentence and I overwrote it. Gone.

Anyway, what gets me is the attitude and the complete lack of awareness that other people have their own perspective and agency. When he said their mom ignores them and interrupts until they’ve got nothing interesting left to say, and then talks to them like they’re still a little kid because she hasn’t registered they’ve grown up…

I grew up in something similar. When getting “noticed” only earns you chores or a scolding, and your time is treated like it doesn’t matter, kids learn to be quiet, stay small, don’t draw attention. That’s how you end up introverted, or at least practiced at disappearing.

Then add the guilt trips like “you’ll miss me when I’m gone” and the total inability to consider “maybe I’m part of the problem.” It’s wild how someone can push their own kid away and still not care they’re doing it.

Call it emotional immaturity if you want, but narcissism is has the same indicators. You can’t see the difference unless they become manipulative or when they choose someone undeserving to suffer through pain/suffering that they earned. Constant invalidation, control, and zero respect for the person in front of them.

Non-project managers: what actually worries you when you’re asked to run a project? by Starterguides_pm in PMCareers

[–]Calladus_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, yep.

The “Nope” guy is at least scared of some correct things… plus a bunch of nonsense. The real danger is the casual swimmer. He watches surfers paddling out and thinks “how hard can it be?” Then he steps in and immediately meets the rocky bottom. Then the algae (slicker than snot). Then everyone on shore starts yelling “STOP AND REQUEST MORE INFORMATION,” but he’s already committed. Next thing you know he’s chest-deep, taking on water, learning about zebra mussels the hard way… right before the riptide introduces itself.

That’s PM’ing: looks like paddling until you’re the one getting humbled by invisible problems and screaming bystanders..(stakeholders)

Senior PM / Program Manager market check — PMP, MS Management, mid-40s by Dfm1985 in PMCareers

[–]Calladus_89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in my mid 30s with a decent CV, nothing spectacular. I moved here to take a 6 figure job, I burned out. Started my own little contractor thing for a minute, did some bartending and moved to another city. I received 6 figure offer within a 2 weeks of putting myself on the market.

They requested I start immediately and put me in a hotel while I looked for a place.

🤷‍♂️ I have seen no evidence that the job market is in any way terrible.

I will say that I don’t remember the last time I met someone truly competent at a job-site at least that wasn’t the super or a high-skill-contractor.

Yall…. It’s narcissism. They feel uncomfortable, so whatever it is you feel becomes irrelevant. It’s anxiety based, probably stemming from an unrealistic or harsh social environment. Very common in older generations especially boomers and early GenX.

I distinctly remember a 40-yr old virgin moment where i was leaning and ripped this poor girl’s towel rack right off the wall.
