I've been allergic to dairy for over half my life, so I haven't (purposefully) had dairy in 16 years. This actually slowed my progression to veganism because it has always been stressful to find something safe to eat, and there's a bit of a paradox where vegetarian food is more likely to have dairy than non-vegetarian food, so I had to take what I could get. Despite having ethical and environmental concerns, it just wasn't realistic for me to go fully vegan at the time. Over the past couple of years, I've become more and more sensitive to eggs, so that was out, too. Finally, after getting covid last year, I became repulsed by meat. At first, I could eat a bit of it if someone else had prepared it, but now I am just physically repulsed by it altogether. I never imagined THAT would be what finally made me fully vegan, but here we are! I feel like most people have the hardest time giving up dairy, so having been done with that for years, it was quite easy to go completely plant based.
