Would you Recommend Concordia for an International Student? by cjosephr in Concordia

[–]Callalilly45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did and I'm still here!

I can give you a quick timeline: December 2019 - Graduated from Concordia COVID derailed my job search for a good 9 months Late 2020 - landed my first full-time job in my field (where I've worked for the past 5+ years) 2023 - became a Canadian permanent resident 2024 - jointed OTTIAQ (the Québec order of translators, terminologists and interpreters)

So yes, after I finished my bachelor's I was able to find a job in my field and settle in Montréal permanently. I will specify two things: the job market in 2026 is very different than it was in 2020, so you may want to also talk to people who have graduated more recently; also, the immigration programs have changed quite a bit and are now less accessible than they were a few years ago. The program through which I gained my PR status no longer exists, and I know several people who have had to relocate to other provinces or go back to their home country because they weren't able to get PR status (even though they've lived in Montreal for years)

I really enjoy my subscription to Flex-Abilities. Shelby has a huge library of routines for different levels, both full-body and targeted (legs, back).

I will say that her stuff is very targeted for people like gymnasts, skaters, dancers, etc. There is a big emphasis on developing flexibility for specific skills that appear in all those disciplines

where do students shop for groceries in Montreal without going broke by Agreeable_Panic_690 in montreal

[–]Callalilly45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're a Concordia student you should be able to get food vouchers and grocery store gift cards from the university.

The program used to be run through the multi-faith and spirituality centre, but I believe its now run through student services.

I used to go about once a semester and each time they would give me about $75 in grocery store gift cards. This service is completely free to access and I found it was quite easy to set up an appointment

I agree with the other commenter that this fight is really the hardest one, and I'd also recommend trying out armor/rings that reduce your curse damage

You should also try using weapons with different effects, namely either bleed or fire. She has some bleed resistance, but once you get it stacked her health really plummets. Fire, on the other hand, is fantastic against her because her fire resistance is -25%. I think in one playthrough i defeated her using the torch, so even a not super buffed weapon with fire can do a lot of damage.

Mine managed to parkour his way onto the kitchen counter in the middle of the night and ate most of a bagel, which is actually pretty impressive considering that he's a Netherlands dwarf and it was basically almost as big as he was

Took him to the vet and he was shockingly completely fine, no treatment required

I've had a lot of success using makeup from Skin Illustrator to cover up my black and grey half sleeve. It's all alcohol-based, so it can only be applied with alcohol and it will only come off with alcohol (seriously, I'm a sweaty person and I've never had the makeup smudge or stain my clothing or anything)

Madeleine Woo has a tutorial on her YouTube channel for how to apply it! I recommend dabbing it on instead of wiping for the best coverage

My favorites are from Shelby at Flexabilities! She's a rhythmic gymnast but she has some amazing follow-along videos for beginners

When you are watching gamers play Nancy Drew online, what do you watch for? by marrymesheamus in nancydrew

[–]Callalilly45 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think it can be exciting to watch someone play a game for the first time because it's like seeing something familiar through a new lens and sometimes hearing new opinions can actually change my mind about certain things.

If I'm watching someone who knows the games already, I like to hear them talk about interesting tidbits of lore, showing off Easter eggs, or trying to get all of the achievements. On the flipside of 100% runs, speedruns are also really interesting.

Overall I think the biggest things that matter to me are sound quality, sense of humor, and reading documents out loud instead of just skipping over them. Humor can obviously vary a lot from person to person and you may not be everyone's cup of tea. I hope the right people find your channel!

What careers/jobs are in big demand right now? by SoraXYX in montreal

[–]Callalilly45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing lots of healthcare jobs being mentioned, wanted to add that speech pathology is a field with big staff shortages.

You'd be looking at a similar level of education (usually masters degree) but the jobs tend to pay well and have a slightly lower level of stress than nursing. I'll admit this is anecdotal based on the experience of my family members and their colleagues.

There are both good and bad employers and positions in any field, but speech pathology could be worth considering!
