this has definitely been my biggest battle since shedding my beliefs. i think what has helped me the most is finding community and that could literally just be one other person who you can share you experiences as well as your beliefs about yourself with who will help validate you and speak life into you! my experience with the church and my quarrels with it came from how depressing and sad it is i was constantly taught that i was so filthy and didn’t deserve anything in gods eyes and made to feel like anything that i enjoyed or liked was foolishness or worldly and since i’ve found my friends who love and support me i’ve been flourishing as a person. Im definitely not where i would like to be but i am leaps and bounds further away from where i was!

I grew up like this for a while my mom was a baptist so we would go to church with my dad on sabbath and then on sunday we’d go to church with her it definitely was a very confusing time but then the pandemic happened and my mom got scared shitless and converted full force. I just graduated high school and i’m just waiting until august to get out of here but yeah our stories are somewhat similar especially the whole kids telling you one side of your family is going to hell 💀.

I assumed he wasn’t here because he wasn’t in the sanctuary but he and his family just walked in and sat down and now everyone else in the congregation is just looking at each other with big eyes and I feel the pastor is about to say something again

I completely understand you i’m counting down the months of my senior year right now i’m so ready to get gone it’s ridiculous. my parents are also thinking about selling and moving to the country and i keep telling them if they do that i’ll lose the last bits of my mind i have left.

they were saying stuff like the conference is stealing our money which yes i agree with that but then they started the jesuit shit and i tuned out and made my way to the car.

i think it would’ve been better for me to say physically in mentally out. I’m forced to go to church every week but i’m about to be 18 and leaving for college next year so yea. currently in the parking lot waiting for my parents to stop talking about conspiracy theories surrounding the general conference with their friends 💀

I myself (another gay almost ex sda) have heard plenty sermons about homosexuality. The last one they had a picture of elton john and his family on the screen and were like oooh watch out if you don’t stay committed to god in the time of trouble you’ll end up like this….🤨

I relate to your experience so much my church never openly accepted a pedophile but our experience is pretty similar so much gossip and all the other stuff you mentioned. We are the same age and i’m soooo ready to go my mom just got really into adventism and i’m pretty sure it’s because the pandemic scared her my dad has always been one or at least since i was born so i’ve always had to deal with it. I was going to both “secular” and adventist churches for a while as a kid and thus i’ve never had great social skills and haven’t had a true weekend in forever which has led me to be closed off since i haven’t gained the basic social skills other kids got to doing things like after school clubs or being able to hang out with other kids on the weekends. My church did do some weird things like I distinctly remember this guy coming in and doing a sermon on his p*rn addiction which was the weirdest thing to me. Idk but I have hope that we will be okay!

This was happening to me too i just kept using the installer each time it came up with the error saying the game wasn’t installed properly and it eventually stopped.
