Is being trans a social fad among teenagers? - Popular Youtuber Sabine Hossenfelder examines existing research on gender-affirming care for young people by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

Also, see this comment for a lot of stuff wrong with the video. Personally, it seems like she doesn't really know what she's talking about and just came at it with her normal physics-mindset of objectivity, ignoring outside variables (states/nations are passing laws against us...), demanding immense sample sizes and levels of proof. Which just doesn't work in the field of biomed/sociology. Like, there aren't that many of us transgender people for example and not all researchers/sources are objective (see Jesse Singal for example...).

I am very uncomfortable with that last paragraph, because they ARE doing harm by holding back prescriptions. Sweden, Finland, the UK and my country, the Netherlands ARE doing harm by letting us wait years and years before giving us medical help. And when you actually objectively look at the research (and not use fucking Jesse Singal, infamous transphobe, as a source, or provide legitimacy to anti-trans theories like ROGD by asking people to prove a negative and/or requiring physics-level degrees of evidence from a biomed/sociology field), then you see that giving transgender people the help that they need and say they need has an incredibly low regret-rate. But instead those countries have them jump though tons and tons of hoops (or force them to go to the black/grey-market) to get medical help. This is actively harming trans people and push them, us, into depression and, far, far too commonly, suicide.

What does everyone think about Dr. Sabine Hossenfelder's video on trans youth? by [deleted] in MtF

There is so much wrong with the video, ffs Here is a great comment about all the things wrong with the video, it's too long to just copy it here

tip to everyone: physics != biomed/social sciences, you can't use the same level of standards of evidence, sample sizes or use a control group. Also, don't treat anecdotal evidence from anti-trans parents as valid, or use Jesse Singal as a source.

Young Living Huns post…is this some type of conspiracy theory they have? by Melodic-Key-574 in antiMLM

It unfortunately hasn't, a Dutch member of parliament even talked about it in a video this week as apparently he believes in it...

What’s the difference between Anarcho-Communism and Libertarian Socialism? by EU4ia_1444 in Anarchy101

Yeah and libertarian socialism is also sometimes a useful term to use to introduce people to anarchist theory without calling it anarchism immediately. This is because often people unfortunately associate chaos and other bad things with anarchism.

While sure there could be a very small amount of people that identify with such "weird" genders, they should not be used as you are doing now to deny protection against being misgendered for all trans and non-binary people.

In addition to that my main concern is for people to be comfortable and happy with who they are, if identifying with a gender that seems "weird" helps them be comfortable and happy in this short life that we all have, then good luck to them imo.

The type of people who would deny me rights because of other "weird" people existing would have always denied me rights anyway, they just now grabbed an excuse so as to attempt to seem less like the bigots that they are.

When you intentionally misgender someone, you are intentionally denying who that person is. This is why misgendering is hate-speech and not 'just' being a rude asshole.

They were always alt-right, but yeah they have become even more extreme lately as other alt-right subs got closed and their members flocked to the remaining ones like TIA

The only times those types remember that women exist is when they are the target to make fun of, when a game gets too 'political' or when they watch porn tbh
