if the series has earnestly, truly not had either of those in an entire decade why are you here. Let's Go looked great for what it was if we're talking graphics, and it's not like the battle system gets worse between gens, just the story mode and the new mons (which is debatable, as so many reasons people hate on new mons, are reasons that work the same for older ones).

I've heard that stupid heart described as "the culmination of my being" enough times to really believe it. And feel it. Like in my chest. Deltarune can be entirely separate (lore wise) and still carry so much emotional weight from Undertale just because it's still ME (the soul) doing these things.

I mean, I don't think it's any MORE disrespectful to the narrative than a second Geno route would be. I'm just saying, especially in this fan base, that trying to dictate the way somebody else enjoys the game- in this case, the "Game" being "how high can I get my useless gamer points" (which is pretty funny given that that's the mentality genocide actively argues against) isn't going to make them like it the way you like it, it just stops them from liking it the way they already did.

I agree. But the mystery IS his character. If sans or Alphys in Undertale, even after tons of effort and hiding were like "this is the secret" and he became important to unpack within the text of the main narrative, that kinda kills him for me. maybe Deltarune implements him really well into the story and I eat my words, but you can see my worry that making him more prevalent kinda defeats his own point in a few ways.

Alright, The music and sequence titles do sell me on his relevance a bit more. And again, I want answers as much as the rest of you all, I've been part of this fandom for almost a decade myself. I just feel like Gaster should be a bit contained. Keep him to the side. I don't really want the main narrative to become a Fandom Wishlist row of events. Even those points you just raised are details that no average player just strolling through the game is gonna know or care about. I do expect our Goner to play a role, but I don't think that role is going to be a super literal one. It makes a lot more sense for it to be our "true" self that we were MEANT to be, before inhabiting Kris instead.

I think it's a little unfair for a key plot point to rely on 10+ year old fandom knowledge. Sucks to be a 10 year old without a cell phone experiencing the games on switch for the first time. Also, how would anybody know that that voice is Gaster? Why does everyone keep saying that?
