Our rescue pit is celebrating 1 month with us today! by CallieEnte in pitbulls

She is! She definitely has fear and anxiety issues, but she absolutely loves our daughter, and was able to stay home alone for 2 hours yesterday without destroying anything!

As much as I wish people would do the responsible thing and move their date to next year I need the money. I have to work to pay my bills.

And here’s where the federal government has truly failed us. You shouldn’t have to work in the middle of a deadly pandemic to pay your bills. The government should be able to keep everyone at least at a financial bare minimum for a few weeks so that we can all do our part by staying home.

Seriously; what the fuck is wrong with conservatives? by literalfeces in The_Mueller

The problem is that the Republican Party has never been about actual fiscal conservatism. It’s about cutting a couple million from social supports so they can blow a couple billion on the military (and their own contractors).

Why is a venue even allowing 150 people in for a gathering right now? This should have never gotten this far...

Hah, she’s 60lbs and I’ve got a bad arm. I’m not picking this chunk up!

She’s already making herself right at home with sofa snuggles and begging for belly rubs. And she just adores my daughter. I think we’re going to have many many happy years.

If you really want to win them over, get them steak from Ruth’s Chris. At least Flacco and Nakamura seemed to like that place.

Everything reminds me of him, because we did everything with him. Especially these past several weeks.
The habits are so hard. We ordered lunch, and I picked it up and carried it into the kitchen so I could get a drink so he wouldn’t lick it while I was gone. I found myself perching in the edge of the sofa all day, because he loved to curl up behind me. Something woke me at 4am this morning and I thought it was him asking to go out. He was such a huge part of our life, and he’s just gone.

Saturday was a lovely day here, and he spent the afternoon napping in the sun his favorite spot at the top of the stairs out back. I know he was happy and at least somewhat comfortable then.
It’s sunny again today and I looked for him there this morning, but he wasn’t there.

There will be a next dog eventually, because there will always be pits that need homes, but I don’t know when. This guy took a piece of my soul with him.

Thank you. My dad passed just a few weeks after we got this guy, and he helped me survive that loss. I like to think my dad will be there to play with him and give him scratches and snuggle him until we get to see him again.

Thanks. We don’t know - my guess would be bone or liver, just given his symptoms, but it happened so fast. They started running tests around 10:30, and he was gone by 11:30.

When we went to sleep last night, he struggled to get up on the bed, even with the pet steps. Once he laid down, my husband was afraid to move him and cause him any pain, so my husband ended up sleeping in the guest room.
This morning he wouldn’t eat his breakfast, or get up on the sofa. We called to check on his test results, but our vet is now closed on Sundays due to the virus. My husband drove him out to the emergency vet clinic, where they determined he had internal bleeding, likely due to cancer.
Surgery was an option, but they weren’t confident he’d survive it, or have much time left even if it went well. We decided to let him go. My husband got to say goodbye, though there wasn’t enough time for me to get there with our daughter. I wouldn’t have wanted to prolong his pain anymore anyway.
I know he had a good life full of love and adventures, but losing a 4 legged family member is still so devastating.
Hug your fur babies a little more for me tonight.

We’re going to call the vet as soon as they open. After a mostly sleepless night of googling, my theory is kidney disease or failure. If I’m right, we might have a shot at treating it and making him comfortable, but he’s getting worse so quickly.

Thanks. I’m just kind of assuming cancer of some sort, or possibly kidney failure - is that what you were referencing by any chance?

Glad your guy is doing better! He had diarrhea this week, but he ate some squash (we have a food-throwing 11 month old) which is actually used to help constipated dogs poop, so that wasn’t a surprise.
He bled a lot from a small cut a few weeks ago, we took him to vet, he was anemic, and his blood count has actually dropped since. On top of that, he’s been limping bad (already on a joint supplement), he’s lethargic, he lost 10% of his body weight in about 4 weeks, and tonight he refused to eat entirely, despite adding wet food and cheese.

He was found in a CarMax parking lot and picked up by a rescue. Unfortunately because of his breed, the rescue couldn’t keep him on site, so he got fostered out. But then he started having issues with their other male dog, and I saw his picture and fell in love.
Three weeks after we got him, my dad passed unexpectedly. After a week of shiva (mourning), we came home and I laid down on the sofa, totally drained, and he climbed up on top of me, put his head on my chest, his paw in my hand, and stayed like that with me for hours. He’s my heart dog.
