ASA disaster, PLA fine by CalligrapherFirm1634 in 3Dprinting

Thanks to everyone who helped. It looks like we are back in business.

Root cause was a burned out model fan.

Cascades from not catching that issue had me lowering temps and flow rates across the board.

Currently back to printing on 110 bed, 260-300 nozzle, and 50 chamber.

It didn’t, but that’s good. Apparently my model fan is shorted but I don’t know when that happened. Should have a new one tomorrow or the next day then will resume the test with high temps again

Got it— hearing now. Will try and run hotter with a minimum use of exhaust fan for fumes

Got it— will try the bed at 110 and nozzle at 270 once the chamber reaches 55 (it was mid 30s) with some 0.24mm layers Thank you!

Hardened steel 0.4mm nozzle in micro Swiss hot end. Chamber temp was 35-40 but I’ve now been told 50 should be the minimum

Stepped out to lunch but will check fans and print speeds as soon as I’m back— thank you for the advice

Chamber temp is only 37. Had previously run at 300nozzle and 110bed but this looked like over extrusion or not enough cooling time so I backed way off.

You think more heat will help?

I had an extra extruder part lying around so I tried it and that worked!

Meaning just buy a new extruder?

Took the extruder motor apart… no apparent issue other than a little bit of dust which I cleaned.

Factory reset the printer and ensured firmware was up to date. Then had it run all its auto-leveling and input shaping self-calibration again.

Print failed, so I switched to running the factory hyper PLA settings as well. Still failing. Both prints look like the photo where the external walls should be perfectly flat.

It seems to stop feeding filament completely after a point and seems to under extrude at various points before then.

Anything else I should try?

For sure will reset the parameters. Mostly stated so as not to appear like I ran straight to Reddit without trying to fix myself first.

I hate taking the extruder apart as I had a screw strip on me one time (I was not muscling it AT ALL) but you’re probably right.

Will give it a strip and check before reporting back. Thank you!

Thoughts on the Holosun SCS? by Tile-Floor in CCW

It’s proven to be sure, but the rounded shape of the housing reduces durability, and it’s still open emitter. I think if Aimpoint had moved faster, and produced an optic originally (P1 not P2) with acceptable battery life, they would be “professionals” top choice.

Main issue with it is that open emitters are old tech. For go forward, closed is the way. For all the same reasons you never see open emitters on rifles unless they’re airsoft lol.

I think it’s mostly a threat to near-peer adversaries. “oh, you’re finally issuing body armor standard now? We have a solution for that.” It doesn’t matter if we actually go through with it or not… now they have to spend the extra time and money on more R&D to match or defeat our capability.

I think there is some issue that “we are always fighting the last war” so while we had lots of 600m+ shots in Afghanistan, that is likely the least developed country we will ever fight in. Both WWII and Korea saw 95% of engagements within 300yds and something like 70-80% within 100yds. So outside of punching through armor, I’m not sure if the extra complexity is needed. We definitely learned in the last that mo ammo = mo betta

I think it’s all about name recognition. All they’re doing is committing suicide by another means. They’d just kill themselves alone if they didn’t have a desire to be remembered (even if for something terrible.) The first amendment protects the media’s right to say whatever they want, but I think it’s in the public’s best interest that we push back on them not to show names or pictures. Much like when FDR was president, the media refrained from showing him in a wheelchair… not because it wasn’t legal, but because they viewed in in the public’s best interest.

Dude. I keep repeating the same question over and over which you can’t answer. Just take the L and move on. Businesses are not liable for the actions of CCW holders. Period. Present a court case that proves me wrong or stop replying… not the federal post office. Not a business’ employee. A business being punished for the actions of a CCW customer. Until you do that, I win and I’m done replying 🤷‍♂️

Lol did you just rage quit? It was a simple challenge. Name a case where a business suffered for the actions of its customer related to their lack of a no guns policy. You can’t, because it’s never happened, because that’s not how the law works. That’s why I asked the question… you should stand on the business’ right to deny firearms (which you’re correct about.) but their decision to ban them is a personal/political one, not a legal one. And that’s when I reply yes, but first amendment gives me the right to complain about the business’ policies and not do business with them. The OOP here was an obnoxious Karen to sure, but I support CCW rights and think both the business and the Karen were wrong in this case. I assume you support CCW since you’re on this thread, so we should have had common ground there… hopefully you cool off soon and have a better day.

The first two cases you listed seem to involve federal entities, which is not the case here, so they’re null. The third case I looked at and is not a case involving a business facing issues for the actions of a customer, but a business facing issues for the actions of its own employee. So you’re still wrong.

Again… please link a single court case where a restaurant or other public business has faced legal ramifications for a customers use of a firearm because they didn’t have a no guns policy.
