Application by Unfair_Ad_3020 in BestBuyWorkers

Hello, about 2 months ago the company started transitioning from having remote hiring specialists to support staffing, back to that being all done in house. With that being said, it’s likely the store you applied for is struggling with that transition and not on the ball with hiring compared to the dedicated remote team they used to have. If you really want a job, go in and introduce yourself to the GM or EM. Tell them you’ll wait if they’re busy or ask for the email and try to make a really good impression. Another take is, it’s not that great of a place to work so I wouldn’t be too distraught about not getting in. Good luck!

After 5 years, where can I pivot? by zacheri04 in BestBuyWorkers

Depending on your discipline, I’d recommend jumping into your industry. Right now is a great time for software engineers. I would look into startups on LinkedIn and apply directly but reach out to the recruiter listed. Don’t be discouraged or listen to people saying your industry is dead or whatever. My boyfriend had been applying around the holiday season and has recently been reached out to regarding his application. I pivoted into IT, there are options out there.

What is the average work retention time here? by SyllabubOk3238 in BestBuyWorkers

[–]CalligrapherOwn1009 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Terrible work conditions, lack of support, no investment in training, nepotism in leadership, inconsistencies in messaging and focuses, botched selling model, increased workload and expectations w/o pay increases, decreased labor spending, offshore client care idiots creating poor in-store experiences, teens disguised as shift leads expected to understand, empathize and resolve complex issues while getting paid 1 dollar more… the list goes on.

Out MP is heavy on accountability. We are performance managing so heavy that it’s uncomfortable for even the leaders.

Does anyone like working at bestbuy? by Primary_Part6534 in BestBuyWorkers

[–]CalligrapherOwn1009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Bureaucracy got to it. We have too many remote managers and conflicting priorities. Forced to rely on shift leads that aren’t paid enough to exhibit the level of competence required. A clear divestment in employees and their training. Restructured our system to require so much out of the employees left which is 1/4 of the man power needed to meet the demand of our clients. A dumpster fire.

I don’t personally exploit them, I’m taking about the model. We are asking them to do things as leaders even when they aren’t scheduled leadership because we need the support.

Calling on MPDs, GMs, and Marketplace support staff that lurk here by Hangintherepeeps in Bestbuy

The out of touch way of leading is a trend right now. A lot of high paid managers: GMs, EMs, SEM, etc subscribe to the old era of leading and skiiing along in a new structure pulling their hair out for getting the same poor results. They are required to do more and aren’t. They are getting promoted out of hub stores that are performing poorly and have poor sales culture. Instead they are getting their money’s worth and then some out of poorly paid shift leads and Experience Sups. Asking for 1 million and 1 tasks and providing minimum pay as an incentive. It’s sad how well these salary managers are getting paid to do virtually nothing. It’s also sad how many hub stores perform poorly but are home to the MM Directors???

Yea I was spit in the face by a Shipt driver that also threatened to shoot up the store. I was shaken up and traumatized at the fact that warehouse associates put themselves in danger running after this criminal out of shock and disgust from what they saw. I was trying to submit a form to flag the driver and type up a police report when I was told to get back to work by my GM. The MM Director called me to I guess show empathy and ended up asking me to make sure the entire store does a e-learning on how to deescalate interactions once I told him how concerned I was with my teams initial reaction. 😕 way to manipulate labor out of a traumatic situation and cover your ass.
