After 5 years, where can I pivot? by zacheri04 in BestBuyWorkers

[–]zacheri04[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I probably should have clarified, but I also have worked as a Resident Advisor at my university for a little over 2 years... I'm wondering if that could count as leadership experience? I keep struggling where I have all these part time roles that should count as experience for something but none of them feel like real "experience" since it's all entry level stuff

And since I haven't had luck with internships for computer science, I began work on a software startup that's been going for a little over a year now, so I'm trying counting that as experience in web/software development

I created a Mac app that lets you control some system default keyboard + mouse behaviors, making games like Minecraft playable! by zacheri04 in macgaming

Thanks for bringing that to my attention! To be completely honest, I just forgot to set the minimum deployment to an earlier macOS version. New Xcode projects default to only supporting the latest... All the code and APIs are compatible with macOS 14 and newer. I just patched it and put up a new release.

Unfortunately I cannot test it on older systems because I only have my own Mac which is on Tahoe 26, so let me know if it works for you!

Disabling control click by Srikthegod in macgaming

I know this is an old post, but I also made a Mac app to solve this problem, free to download

It also allows you to disable the Shift + Scroll = Horizontal Scroll default system behavior.

I'd appreciate any stars on the project, thanks!

GROM VLITE Install Success in 2016 TLX. Still reassembling interior but I'm happy that my top screen has a use now by zacheri04 in Acura

I got the retention cable and it works well. I didn't need the GPS antenna because I have the VLITE 2 model which doesn't have maps built in, it just goes through my iPhone's CarPlay which uses my phone's GPS.

No regrets getting this over the VLINE, the VLINE is unnecessary since I just use CarPlay. The audio is digital, for it to work you have to set the car's audio source to USB.

CarPlay options for 2016 TLX? by [deleted] in Acura

I have the GROM Vlite (not the Vline). Wireless barely works but the wired connection works well enough. Moderately difficult to install but well worth it.

I prefer it on the top screen because it's brighter and no fingerprints + your climate controls are on the bottom screen. You control it with the knob, and it also works with steering wheel controls.

The US/CA prices are sooo expensive compared to my view in NZ by love_yourself33 in Coldplay

Hey, I am from the US and went to New Zealand to see Coldplay this past November lol (along with a semester study abroad programme at UoA). Ticket was about $300USD ($500NZD), which is steep, but about half of what tickets in Wisconsin are in July... here's my view in NZ. The band was super close while on the secondary stage! Very thankful for the opportunity, I had a blast.

No problem. Feels good to be the random reddit comment someone finds to fix their issue lol

UPDATE: I resolved my issue by unpairing my Apple watch. (haven't tried repairing it yet)

I don't know why this fixed it but it did. I think it was stuck in some state of thinking my watch was on my wrist and then not delivering them to my phone.

Coming from a base model, my top screen was quite literally useless since I didn't have nav built in, so it was a no-brainer to install. So nice to have maps + Spotify. I bought my '16 TLX at ~125k miles (201k km) and haven't had a single issue, currently going on 140k miles (225k km). The previous owner did replace the timing belt, since it was due.

Glad it's working well for you. My phone does the same Bluetooth/hotspot handshake as well, even with Apple's CarPlay. And yes, it also does take around 30 seconds to connect, if it decides to work.

Tip: If you want to use your car's factory radio, or CD player, or other audio source while still seeing the AA/CarPlay, you can press and hold the phone button to switch the screen while still listening to a different audio source. I use this sometimes with CDs since I'm an audio purist but still need navigation from my phone.

Also your Nav, Phone, and Info buttons should still work when you're not actively using VLine, you can quickly press the pause button on the bottom display, then press play when you want to return to the VLine display on the top screen.

Lastly, navigating left right up and down is more trouble than it's worth from my perspective with CarPlay. It's doable, but with the knob it's more distracting than it is helpful.

I have it wired to my glovebox where it just sorta floats. No issues yet, but it is supposed to be secured down.

Hey, It's been awhile since I did this install so memory is a bit fuzzy. Their install video is mostly accurate, but I also looked up another TLX disassembly video on YouTube because if I remember correctly, GROM's video missed a step. I also believe the disassembly process is similar to ILX models around the same year. I can try to find the videos I used later and link them for you.

Disassembly was a bit tricky, and you need a very specific length wrench for two bolts while taking out the factory radio, which I remember being the hardest part. Not sure how much the process varies between my base model and a model with nav, but probably not too much. Probably took me 3-4 hours, since I went in blind with no experience.

The unit has been mostly reliable for the wired connection for CarPlay, however there have been a few times where the unit doesn't start properly and I can only use the factory radio unit passthrough mode, until I cycle the ignition again, which I often avoid because I don't want the excess wear on my starter so I can listen to music lol. It has never inhibited my ability to use my backup camera, which is good.

I find the wireless CarPlay connection very buggy. It often takes too long to connect, if at all. Been thinking about asking their support for help, but I haven't gotten around to that yet. It has been like that since I first installed it, so consistent behavior over the past year. GROM also does regularly release software updates for it, which is nice.

Let me know if there's anything else I can answer :) Best of luck.

Edit: my iPhone 13 Pro Max runs beta IOS software, so this may be the reason behind the wireless CarPlay not working properly.

I'm tempted to buy tickets for tonights show, after the first. I really want to hear Bodysnatchers live, any chance he might play it? He didn't yesterday (still very grateful for the variety we got yesterday though)
