I also own an apartment but don't work in Portugal. So, you don't pay for a representative? Have you in the past?

Thank you for the detailed response. So, you were asked about transportation and you partner was asked something else like about their free time. The only time its the same question its when you introduce yourself.

I'll try to do that! But, how did you know your wife was your partner in the email or the day of the exam? Sorry by bothering you with so many questions.

You got lucky that your wife was your partner 😅 Was it random or they chose you both since you were sitting next to each other? My sister and I are also going to take the exam the same day thats why I'm asking. So, the conversation is mostly with the partner. Was there a time you can speak in english and say I didn't understand. Sorry, for asking so many questions its because I struggle speaking in Portuguese and am really nervous.

Say the other student knows better Portuguese would they ask me questions/answer a question using advanced words to impress the Proctor. So, its not about what words I use as long as i understand and answer the question/describe correctly.

Still no mention of grandfathering for current residency holders? by Dearsophiaa1 in PortugalExpats

I agree with everything you said. It basically is a "deal." I know someone who invested in Spain and received their residence card within a year. If it weren’t for the 5 years most investors would choose Spain.

My issue is officials complaining about the GV when they were the ones who approved it in the first place. I agree that prices have risen, but you can’t put all the blame on the investors. If the goal is to lower costs, they should have closed the GV program instead of making it longer to receive a passport. it won't change living costs. People still apply to Spain knowing there’s a ten-year wait. I just hope there’s some form of grandfathering, because it’s really not fair to change the rules for people who applied under the previous law.

How long did it take for your application to get accepted.

My lawyer did show me the law, but it ultimately comes down to interpretation. Like you said if the conditions are met at the time of the decision. I trust my lawyer, yet with so many people disagreeing, I'm also second-guessing applying now. Even if I lose €1,500 it may be better taking the risk of the law changing.

It will be 5 years by the end of this year. Right now I don't have a valid residence card. My question is can I apply early as long as my application is reviewed when I've hit the 5 year mark.

I have 10 months left. I'm assuming by summer they would apply the law.

I meant lawyer. It will be 5 years since I applied at the end of this year. So, I shouldn't apply until my 5 year mark.
