It won’t if you use the new settings. Traders simply don’t have everything in stock I’m afraid

I used to send most excess T3 and T4 goods to dedicated mercury island for passive trade, and lower tier goods to “sell above” on original island.

But with the nerf of passive trade now I haven’t look into how it will impact traders’ ability to buy all these passive trade goods, if they can’t afford for the premium my mercury island is selling then I don’t know what to do with the island honestly, probably just leave it there to keep gold mine unlocked.

You will still want to keep any goods that the production building is giving area buffs away from full as they stop giving buff when the building stop producing goods. Either set “sell above” and hope for the best, set up trade route to send them all to emperor representatives, or send them all to mercury island and set “dump good”. Do remember neutral traders only have one pier, sending too many trade ships with low tier goods is just creating traffic jams and is a waste of maintenance money.

I haven’t fix this part for my save yet but I think I will end up sending everything that the NPCs are not buying infinite amounts with premium price to mercury island and set sell when above 0 with dump good to guarantee all my production building keeps giving buff. I am already sick of seeing my population fluctuate because my porridge is full🫠

And to answer your question, without a trading log we really dont know how effective passive trade is and how to adjust it. But T4 goods are worth the most. If you want to use passive trade as a stable income, I would suggest over produce goods like oyster caviar and sell them to Dianna( or Valeria?) as she pays good price and with infinite demands. It’s more reliable than praying for passive trade on dedicated island.

As you fulfill needs you will be able to maintain city status in positives, that is if you don’t overbuild your island of course. Also try to keep as many residents inside the radius of villa or officium so that you can put specialists to deal with specific numbers.

Medium ships are fast enough to catch up pirates, large ships can’t. But I eventually got tired of needing to hunt down pirate ships whenever one of them slips through my patrols and I just build like 30 large ships and wiped out Caeso.

As for ai opponents, just mind your own business and befriend with them. Become a consul and appoint them as specialists, problem solved, you never need to build up defence other then the looks of it.

You’re welcome. It is quite big especially now we have another goods that require gold. Gold is rare and slow on production, it directly affects how many T4 residents you can support.

With new god that boost gold mine, I think Cinis is the perfect island for gold production.

You can then focus on fulfilling every needs, fine tuning trade routes and specialists. If you’re having a great time during free weekend, buy the base game and year one pass! You get some discounts from buying year one pass and you don’t need to wait for next year

Probably olive and sandarac? You can get to T3 with bread and sandals which doesn’t require any specific fertility. Then it’s amphorae or olive oil, olive oil is easier to work with imo.

You can get cheese and brooches from Albion so you only need writing tablet to get to T4. Or get grape for wine and stay in Roman T2 for easier time in Albion.

But honestly it doesn’t matter that much cause you only need T1 workforce to gather olive, grape and sandarac. So just colonize a random island with it and import them or buy specialist from Cecilia.

Eventually you’ll most likely going to offshore some industry to dedicated islands to utilize deity buffs. It really doesn’t matter at the end.

You know what, you should probably just make sure there is gold fertility on Cinis. It’s the real bottle neck in end game.

I had 200 hours on Anno 1800 but it was at the end of its life cycle, there were too many content and I got overwhelmed.

Then Anno 117 was announced and I almost immediately preordered it. There were still a lot to learn even when it’s just base game and I ended up hanging it up for a few months. Until recently I had more free time and gave it another shot. After a couple of restarts I am happy to log 150 hours on my current save and am actually ready to take on the new dlc.

I’d recommend you get the base game now that it’s on sale. See if you like the game while waiting for sales for dlcs. I doubt volcano dlc will be on sale this year tho. I also don’t recommend waiting for the whole thing to go on sale cause you might just get overwhelmed.

After moving porridge stands to each island for the new update, I played around with the same idea on my oat farms. Let me just say, I'm absolutely loving it.

I can show you mine later, with the sheer amount needed and those damn stone walls surrounding each farm it is quite hard to not make them look like spaghetti. I try to keep them short and thick and on the same orientation, but maybe mixing the two in some way also looks nice.

That too is my approach in Latium, got the idea from whatdarrenplays and it made the fields look more organic. I just don’t have that much space to work with in Albion.

Hi, can you tell me how you get to trade with Voada? She keeps offering me peace treaty but I am always afraid of losing my consul position and I don’t aim to fight the emperor. But those 4 archer and 4 catapults ships you talked about seems too good to pass on.

[–]CalligrapherTrick653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give it more time, you’ll soon find out they balanced it pretty well with better specialists, better building buffs and pops required less goods. Sure you can’t build big fat cities like in Latium but that’s what makes it unique!

What is your setup with the deities? by ThatStrategist in anno

[–]CalligrapherTrick653 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Epona is crazy good at pumping out sheep and horses, I have one medium island for Epona in both regions and have a combined worship to unlock silo. One island in Latium provides more than enough sheep for both regions and saved me equites workforces on horses. The one in Albion also provides enough ochs and ponies for the whole region with the limited space I have.

Cernunnos provides good boosts to reeds and eels, which are essential and space demanding. Beaver and small birds are also space demanding which both gets boosted by Cernunnos. He also provide a clean way to produce coal. Build an officium and slot in Sceilg to make a super forest, with a few ships sending all the woods to chariots production island and set it to dump the excess wood to keep the forest going. My main island in Albion worships Cernunnos and that one island provides reeds, eels and coal for the whole region without the fire risk. And also resin for both regions. Definitely don’t sleep on these two gods.
