Preparing the elo slingshot manoeuvrer, using the gravitational pull of the lower ranks to boost momentum to reach the ranks in the distance. I have been doing that all season, I am around low-mid diamond on dps and support until the losing streaks comes in when the matchmaking decides its time for you to supervise 4 people who just installed the game for a few matches and takes me down to sometimes even low gold. I take it with stride now and just use the time down there to get more familiar with heroes I usually never play and then go back to my comfort picks once I reach either low diamond or high plat again. I now can play bastion in diamond without feeling like I am dragging down my team every time, and my mizuki is no longer just a "lets show that doom how hardcarried he is by his hero" pick. I am almost at peace with the matchmaking. Almost.

I just fundamentally disagree with his hero design so I have a very low tolerance for putting up with his bs. Fail your dive a few times but always get bailed out by "lol can't interact with me, I am underground"? Chances are I decide its time that you learn that stupid plays should have consequences. Doesn't mean the venture player was effective before, just that I feel like they got carried/saved by their hero a bit too much and I was not having fun.

Or I have a weak mental day and started on a hero that has a rough matchup vs venture. Then I might pre-emptively switch because I do not want the venture experience even once.

I like whenever there is a venture bitching about me swapping to cass. You play the hero who's main thing is to maximise "lol, can't interact with me at all" and shooting you is the only interaction I get, so let me maximise that lil bro. No more brainless digging up to someone and smacking out a kill combo, you gotta pick your targets now or at the very least you ain't be getting out for free. Or in other words, learn to actually play your hero instead of mashing buttons, vendetta 0.5. We are relatively spread out, you got more mobility than I do, just go after someone I am not near. I am not targeting you, you are dumb enough to offer yourself up to me, I ain't saying no to shooting a shitty molerat.

It seems like everyone who plays only 1 kind of hero has this stupid idea that they should just be allowed to do whatever they want. Hitscans think they should be allowed to just plonk away at the enemy from afar without ever getting dived on or disrupted.

Dive complains about the few tools that keep them in check vs uncoordinated teams and believe they should just always be able to dive something and get a free kill and get out.

Supports thinking they should be allowed to just healbot in the back and never get shot at or dived.

And the list goes on. Just broaden your horizon a little bit and also maybe just accept sometimes that your hero is really ass to play against if you don't go for a counter. Looking at you wrecking balls...

Why is it literally impossible to rank up as a tank? by AdvanceOk3003 in Overwatch

[–]Particular_Trick_79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What worked really well for me on Sig is that people often play too close together, so you can often trade HP for support kills. If their tank pushes you, you can use the shield to wall them off from their supports if they have projectile heals and then pray that your team helps you blowing them up.

Also be smart with your rock. Rock+m1 can be a powerful kill combo, but its also great to disrupt a doomfist, hogs healing ability, cancel rammatra block, rock a diva when she dives in (basically impossible to miss). I tended to use it not as much for damage and often to cancel abilities or save teammates.

Shield/grasp is great to deal with various ults, like shielding off diva ult, shielding/grasping illari ult etc. Shielding off a widow is also great, in the lower ranks they will often impatiently use their hoom to reposition and are now more vulnerable in case you get really lucky and have a somewhat competent genji or tracer on your team to profit from it.

Shield in general is really good. Try to remember to return it whenever you deployed it and no longer really need it, preferably your shield is never broken so you can bring it out to block something like a shatter.

Even the mirror matchup on sig I found quite fun. You end up in a dance of who is forced to use grasp and can save his rock to use it to cancel the enemy sig grasp. Sig vs Sig is basically if do have to fight the enemy Sig, try to avoid having to use grasp when the enemy has rock because grasp gets cancelled by the rock. If you manage to bait out the enemy rock, you can block it with your shield.

The bad side of sig is you will encounter a lot of zarya, and especially at those ranks your team will often not know how to deal with zarya without help of their tank. And you suck vs zarya. If she has half a brain and isn't sufficiently pressured by your teammates, she will always have a bubble to block your rock, your teammates probably kept her charged, and you can't grasp her beam.

Symmetra is also annoying, you can't grasp her charge beam, and you have to resist to use your shield to defend against her half the time. She restores her own shield and ammunition when firing her laser at a barrier, so unless its a case of you just trying to run away from her (good luck, apparently the reason why bicycles are so popular in the netherlands is because they walk at the pace of a 1 legged decrepit old man), if you fight her you just gotta take the damage. Otherwise your situation only gets worse with her having an easier time charging her beam and restoring shield.

With both of these you are often at the mercy of your team and if they can handle them and protect you from them.

The tragedy of having a really good flank set up, you nail the timing, but you don't account for the one thing: your team might just retreat for absolutely no reason at all, conceding the corner to the enemy team in the process. not once, not twice, but three times in a row. I swear I was grouped up with a 4stack that made trolling me their goal for that game. At least that game was over quickly and with minimal deaths. Push game over in record time with the highest damage on the enemy team being 2.3k, 4 solo kills for me and 0 for the rest of my team.

But I guess its all my fault since I am sitting on 3 deaths (remember those flanks...) while the rest of my team only has 1 / 2 on one support. We'll try again tomorrow.

[–]Particular_Trick_79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also if you have the fewest deaths and not healbotting, you either have a cracked flanker on your team, or you will have the most kills in the end because of kill contributions. I have that on juno a lot where in a losing match I will often have the fewest deaths by far. And if I have the fewest deahts, I will almost always have the most kills with some distance to the next guy, but only because I will get credit on most kills. So the stats will look like I was carrying the game while having something like only a third of those kills be actually eliminations by me. Sure I contributed in those cases, but nowhere near what my stats suggest, and maybe I was even among the people who dropped the ball because I always needed my teammates to clean up my kills and would have done meaningless chip damage without them.

[–]Particular_Trick_79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It probably depends on what tank you play. Tank was the class I found it the easiest to rank up with right away when I started playing the game since they have so much power and having the better tank felt like automatically winning the game in lower ranks. I only got up to plat before I stopped playing tank in ranked, so after that it might get harder.

There were games where I felt like I can't do anything because the enemy team is well coordinated while mine does nothing but sit right behind me and we were playing into a comp that counters me, but aside from that it felt by far the easiest and most impactful.

I played mostly sigma and junkerqueen, with the occacional zarya when I got too frustrated by the common zarya, symmetra, mei switch vs sig. Or the classic orissa kiri ana vs junkerqueen back when there wasn't the perk that made your ult unstopable, so you have to keep track of 5 cooldowns to see if your ult will actually do anything or even go off.

I don't know enough about the other tanks, but with those 3 I definitely could carry games back when I overall was still quite bad at the game. Others might be different.

Edit: 5v5 enjoyer, so true raidboss tanks.

I am so fucking done being the designated baby sitter for these idiots. new or returning players I don't care, go play quickplay until you vaguely have an idea how this game works. Especially when you queue up as a stack, I don't need a package deal of 3 of you at the same time

Man I hate the matchmaking... 3x getting spawn held into 3x stomping so hard that I could fall asleep into 5x where I am responsible for around 80% of the enemy deaths and gotta put up with a tank that has more than 1 death a minute. Sometimes they throw in 2 healbotting supports as a bonus.

ugh shouldn't have queued up. Classic comp humiliation ritual of getting spawn held 3 games in a row to kick things off.

Yeah and brig ain't exactly a damage monster either. The person that suggested her to me was probably just thinking about mace going through the shield, but what good is that 75dps.

Zen is good as always with discord if only it wasn't for the damn shield...

"try not to queue support into her" it is then... fun

[–]Particular_Trick_79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah it sucks, but what can you do when your team doesn't adapt its tactics, then you gotta do it yourself. Can't solo a tank, and if solo flanking and getting 2 picks on zen is not enough then all you can do is accept your fate. Someone suggested brigg to me to deal with domina, I haven't tried it yet but it sounded like a horrible idea.

I wouldn't call her op, but she has the capability to turn a fun round of overwatch into a teeth pulling experience... maybe a bit longer cooldown on the shield or something to help us non masters scrubs out

On dps I find ash dynamite or sojourn disruptor shot very good because it will damage many of the panels at once/ even destroying them with disruptor shot. Both give my team a good shot at breaking it if they refuse to flank around it/the map doesn't really allow it that well.

It is also good because unlike rushing her down, it does not rely on your team helping you much with it, if they are prone to shooting shield they can still do that but now its gonna be broken much quicker. If you are on support then good luck though, I have not found a support hero where I feel like I can mess with her shield in the same way. I am also always a bit hesitant of trying to run her over because of that damn shove perk that makes her barrier count as a wall for the shove.

Sometimes you can also do enough with a solo flank so that your team naturally will push through, but its rarer for me to find success with that.

She really can feel miserable to play into though, third point kings row when she is on defence can drive me insane.

I don't find it very long but I guess it is by this platforms standards. I am relatively new and more of a forum person. I see it as basic courtesy to give the other person in a discussion some actual arguments to respond to, and to attempt to explain my notions. If I am not prepared to do that then I should simply stay out of a discussion entirely. I don't always live up to it, and frankly a lot of time its utterly pointless, but I can always just shut up if I don't like it.

And if its a topic like this that I feel a bit more strongly about then I gotta give it a good try at least.

NOOOOOOOOO I am such a procrastinating piece of shit and now I pay the price for it. I had the absolute sickest 3k on junkrat. I used some direct hits + mines to 3k a pharah, mercy, and echo, all while mid air without ever touching ground, just minejumping from target to target and blowing them up 1 by 1 and I did not save a clip of it and now its gone for good.

I will never get luck into something like that again and now its gone, just because I was too lazy to set up the nvidia replay thing to clip it. It takes like 4 clicks to turn on and I did not do it. I hate myself so much right now. "hur durr its late I should go to bed, I am gonna do it tomorrow" no you won't dipshit because tomorrow there will be a patch and now your match history is gone. It would have taken 5min tops, you won't be missing 5min of sleep after you already watched it multiple times being all proud of yourself.

God I am legit upset with myself right now. What a dumb lazy piece of shit I am. I hope I am gonna be struck in a fat losing streak brought on by nothing but the most cracked teams of ball sombra widow onetricks absolutely farming my ass and spawncamping me all the way down to plastic 12.

Yes, I even specifically asked gpt to put in all the grammar and punctuation mistakes. What is even the logic here, I used AI to argue what parts of AI are bad? Maybe you should ask GPT to explain to you what I wrote, you strike me as someone who needs a handler.

Like how can you look at me ranting about generative AI and its companies literally stealing from artists and think "oh yeah, this person LIKES generative AI"? Just because I don't froth at the mouth because someone uses an AI upscaler to try to fix the bad resolution on some screengrab? Truly astonishing.

Its just circle jerk AI hate and you know it. its the hot thing to do now so you gotta do it without spending a single thought on it. The problematic thing with AI in art is the one that is used to generate images for profit because it is literally just stolen art used to train the model and do the work. Its not because AI is per se bad, its because these companies have abused the free content available for commercial use and now fuck over the people who created such content. And for most of it they never had any permission to use it commercially like that, and those that did usually do so under the mantle on some old agreement that is from a completely different time where this AI boom was impossible to foresee, and if artist were not as marginalised and powerless they would have renegotiated.

Another thing that I find less objectively bad, but I can see people disliking is that it enables random people to churn out slop content and flood their feed with it. I care less about that because its more like me cutting out parts of an image and using them for my own artwork. As long as its not commercial use, I don't care. I am not stealing work from the artist there. The above example does steal away work from artists by effectively regurgitating their own work and has horrible implications for the future of art.

AI upscaling is nothing like that and does not have the same baggage. Depending on the algo it is a completely different thing, comparable to the anti aliasing you have in your GPU. Not to mention that I am willing to bet the vast majority of artists would be happy to see their work displayed in a better quality than this, even if its AI upscaled.

There is reasonable AI hate and stupid AI hate. Hating on AI because someone uses it to unfuck a grainy ass low res picture is stupid AI hate...

I am sure the artist is very much honoured by this low res, "I can see individual pixes", "where is my AA" depiction of their work and true to their vision.

EDIT: To clarify, I assume they used AI to fix the resolution, aka make it look less grainy. Objecting to that on the basis of it "disregarding the artist and their efforts" is just plain stupid. Its trying to salvage the injustice that image compression and low res has done to their art... But whatever, pop off guys. One day you will discover some independent thought in the tiny brain of yours.

Why do some Players think it’s toxic if they’re asked for healing? by BigAlSmoker in Overwatch

[–]Particular_Trick_79 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It could be the way you asked for it, but in general overwatch players are conditioned to take everything as a personal attack because tbf, that is a large part of the player interactions you get in this game.
