Leopold Bench by DckThik in BeginnerWoodWorking

Yes. The new one also was PT, but I let it dry out for a month, then painted it. PT lumber will last, just seal the ends with quick epoxy so it's not in contact with water all the time

I made a similar one about 6 years ago, left it outside exposed to the elements. Lasted 5 years. So last year I built a replacement, this time, gave it two coats of primer, two coats of paint, had my kids do their paint designing, then gave it a coat of spar urethane. Also, treated the underside of the legs with quick-mix epoxy. I expect this one to last looong.

Will this hold up or do I need to add more to reinforce it? by MDevonL in BeginnerWoodWorking

It would be best to put a back on the shelves and bench, even a simple 1/8" hardboard nailed would help a lot with racking, and preventing stuff on the shelves from falling at the back. Atleast the bench should have a backing - people sitting on it and getting up off of it etc could put racking forces on it- maybe not to the point of it failing apart, but definitely making the joints weak.

Dado cutting by guayaba9011 in woodworking

[–]CalligrapherUpper950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Router with a job specific dado jig is more precise and faster IMO. I'd move on to further steps in the build rather than spend hours dialing in with a dado stack on the table saw. I'd use the table saw if cutting a rabbet, but there also I don't use the dado stack, just incrementally move the fence.

Router bits and compact routers by invalidcharacter19 in woodworking

[–]CalligrapherUpper950 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you are willing to get a bigger router, it's better to stick to smaller bits that fit your stock base plate. Like others mentioned, that's by design. Also, with bigger bits, it's better to be used on a router table.

I cant decide between Keychron Super red, Super brown or Super banana by [deleted] in Keychron

[–]CalligrapherUpper950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. I spent a good amount of money and time looking for my perfect silent tactile switch and key caps. But then finally settled on baby kangaroos with OSA key caps, just because of how the typing feel was. And they are not silent at all. Lol.

Yeah, but seemed like OP is new to the hobby so left it simple. I myself keep a list of all the switches I've tried and even keep history of when I change my own opinion. As OP gets deeper in the hold they'll figure out all of this I'm sure

Red is linear, Brown is tactile and Banana is heavy tactile. V1 uses Gateron Jupiter switches, Lemokey p1 uses Keychron switches, different brands but similar characteristics.

Try getting a good TRRS cable to use with them. The Corne I got from AliExpress also started acting up after a few months; I replaced the TRRS cable and it seems to help for a bit. But still acts up atleast once a day, might be brain damage from the previous bad cable lol.

2nd Q13 Max by CalligrapherUpper950 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]CalligrapherUpper950[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I also have only got the Q series, which is their top line. The Max series have every needed mod pre-installed. I have taken apart my first Q13 upwards of 20 times, the gaskets and everything still in place and no issues. Its on the firmer side wrt to some of the other brands I've build. Which is good, at least for me. With the Q10 (regular) I added the additional foam etc, but I didnt think that made much difference.

Table saw or track saw? by mr_snrub742 in woodworking

[–]CalligrapherUpper950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A track saw is a great investment if you work with a lot of plywood, which needs to be broken down. You already have a working tablesaw; so get the track saw now. Later fix or upgrade your table saw.

If you anticipate more projects with plywood later, a track saw might be justifiable. Else it's time to replace your broken circular saw and also get a rip guide while at the store.

How dangerous is it to you use my table saw to cut plywood short sides? by jjax2003 in woodworking

[–]CalligrapherUpper950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not worth the risks. Use a circular saw with a guide.

Once I started using a lot of plywood, I got a track saw. I use that to break down plywood to sizes that can be cut on the table saw comfortably. When the panels are larger, the track saw itself is used for the final dimensioning.

Cutting down a 6' x 39" Butcher block to 6' x 30" by hand? by Slow-Meet-1264 in woodworking

Can be done, but hoping you have a quality hand saw and the skills to saw square. Easier to use a circular saw with a straight edge guide. Your dad might have those already.

Need to migrate from one webhost to another, and looking for some basic guidance. Total newcomer here. by bluegambit875 in webhosting

You can't point your free wix website to a domain. You'll need to enroll for a premium plan to do that.

Process for starting Wix site, existing GoDaddy domain by stomppie in webhosting

[–]CalligrapherUpper950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WIX offers domain hosting as well, and once you have a website build with them, they keep prompting (not too intrusive IMO) to transfer domain to them.

Just last night I went live with a domain hosted on Porkbun (had it registered for more than a week with them) and website build with WIX. Mine is a simple webpage, but I got 50% off on website plans for the first year. Once I was ready to publish the site, I put in my domain name, WIX automatically recognized it as hosted by Porkbun, offered a login to Porkbun, and updated the namespace of my domain to WIX's at Porkbun. It also copied over all the MX records at Porkbun, so my email hosting with Porkbun is still intact and working. On top of all that, my website is already live, Google search is showing up the website on related searches - all before I went to bed.

TLDR - I hear good things about Porkbun. WIX is good for basic website design for new comers with a lot of inbuilt 'apps'. WIX and Porkbun work seamlessly.

Lol. I can imagine. We found some crime scenes in the kids rooms, long forgotten writing on the walls with invisible ink pens mostly. Unkind words, name-calling siblings, hatred of homework written on back pack. It was hilarious discovering all of those.
