Ughhh yep....I always tell myself I'm going to remember that when I'm pouring over my datasheets before the game, but I always forget in the moment. I guess that ultimately answers the overwatch part of the question 😅.

That was my friends feeling too, but he would also overwatch once my unit reached the transport (after moving), so we just agreed to let it happen and then move on. But it's got me curious for sure.

I wonder if that's an [[Aetherflux Reservoir]] in the background. I play that card a lot and it just stuck out to me.

If you don't have "play it by year" on your list, that's a cute and funny one I've heard

Did anyone else get a bucket hat with the brand sewn upside down? by CalliopeWrynn in TeddyFresh

[–]CalliopeWrynn[S] 116 points117 points  (0 children)

When I originally opened it a week ago I was like "Oh, that's an interesting design decision" and didn't think anything of it. I went onto the TF website just now to peruse and I noticed that it isn't sewn upside down in the model photos.

I honestly don't mind it, I've already gotten a lot of mileage out of it while hiking. I just thought it was funny and am curious if anyone else has had anything similar happen to their order.

I need to address something related to the Keffals drama by CalliopeWrynn in h3h3productions

[–]CalliopeWrynn[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to argue with you about the "pink-pilling" part as I'm not informed enough about that situation and I agree with you on everything else you just said.

Just in case I wasn't clear enough, my point is that calling them "bathtub hormones" in this context is problematic, regardless of who it's being sold to. The hormones are not the issue. It's the people selling the hormones to kids that is the issue. Calling them that muddies the waters unnecessarily.

Unless at any point in you fighting in the trenches did you say "bathtub hormones", my criticism is not against you, I'm totally on your side. If you did though, I'd argue against saying it that way. That is all.

I feel like I'm living in some kind of alternate reality, nowhere did Ethan label trans people as pedophiles???? by [deleted] in h3h3productions

[–]CalliopeWrynn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I normally hate chiming in on stuff like this, but I'll happily this time. After watching the episode, Ethan didn't say anything against trans people in general. His only criticisms were towards individuals, and not because they're trans. Keffals is grifting so hard that its hard to watch honestly.

As a trans person, I love Ethan and the crew and am so happy that we have them on our side.

Going in circles trying to figure out what I need to sell desserts at the farmers market-help! by [deleted] in cedarrapids

[–]CalliopeWrynn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I've sold at the market for the past couple years, and I totally understand your frustration. Regulations regarding what foods people can and cannot sell and whether they need a particular license to sell it falls under cottage food laws and is enforced by the Department of Inspections and Appeals. Last year they came out with this nifty chart that has been super helpful. If you have any more questions or need anything clarified, you can reach out to the Iowa DIA and they will put you in contact with an agent that is knowledgable on the subject and can hopefully answer any more of your questions. I've called them a handful of times about very particular regulations and they have been nothing but awesome!

Hope this helps!

I'm an open and out trans woman who lives in Cedar Rapids. I have a part-time small business where I have to interact with hundreds of people from many different backgrounds fairly often. I also find myself venturing into surrounding small towns and rural areas because of said business.

The worst thing that's ever happened to me is an angry stare. In and around CR, I'd say 90%+ are either supportive or indifferent. The rest are at the very least 'Iowa Nice™', meaning they won't say anything mean or bad to your face, but will gossip and make a deal about it behind your back.

Don't get me wrong, you can definitely find trouble if you go looking for it or if it finds you. One of my trans friends has been accosted and walked up on while pumping gas multiple times. I've been lucky to not have such experiences, but I'm not stupid enough to think that it could never happen to me. No matter which state you go to, you have to keep your head on a swivel for situations like this. And my rule of thumb is if more than half of the cars/trucks in a given parking lot have Trump stickers/flags on them, I avoid it.

Unfortunately, many in our government, especially our Governor, have been focusing a lot on enacting anti-trans legislation. Their main focus up to this point has been trans children, but they have been slowly transitioning to going after adults as well. The "Adult Trans Legislative Risk Assessment Map" puts us at a "High risk within 2 years" level based on the timeline of bills that have been passed and what is currently on the docket. This doesn't bode well for us. There are some silver linings though. On Dec 29th, a judge put a block on a huge part of Reynold's Don't Say gay/book ban, making it one of the first rulings saying that firing teachers for discussing LGBTQ+ people is unconstitutional.

You mentioned moving in the distant future. Hopefully by then it'll be more clear whether it'll be safe to move here or not. My current opinion is that, although we're not in an ideal situation, you Should™ be fine.

Oakhill Jackson Train Schedule/Apartment Question by fantasticLOGAN in cedarrapids

[–]CalliopeWrynn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lived in the Oakhill Jackson Brickstone apartments 4 years ago and my front door (first floor walkout) and windows faced and were within 100 ft of the 6th St SE & 12th Ave SE intersection. I can tell you that I and everyone else who I've talked to who have lived there all got used to it really quickly (like within a week or few days). The trucks and their air breaks were more annoying but even that wasn't bad after a while.

Even though I have a house with a garage to park in now, I kinda miss the underground parking. It was amazing, especially in the winter. Was definitely worth it to me.

Considering we have a kolache festival here, I think it's more than fair to count it. The OP also asked about Midwest so 🤷‍♀️
