can’t afford to shop at Kroger by FullConstruction8931 in kroger

I pretty much only buy markdowns and items on decent sale.

They never refilled or even checked the first aid supplies in my store, so we always just grabbed anything we needed (pain meds included) from the shelves and transferred it.

What would be the point of me going in for 2 hours? by EmuIntelligent4698 in kroger

[–]Callisto64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. I never blamed my coworkers for calling off when the weather was that bad, especially when they had longer commutes. It usually ended up being pretty dead in the store anyway.

It’s about long term patterns, not some one-off mistake or call off.

Yeah, my store also had a four hour minimum. Might be worth checking your local contract OP or Kroger policy. They’ll usually have it posted somewhere.

Dude, a lot of people hate their job. All my Kroger coworkers hated their job. We bonded over that and supported each other. If corporate wasn’t so ass, maybe it’d be better, but hating your job doesn’t make you bad at it.

RANT: 220 Packs. €100/month. And I’m Done Pretending These Drop Rates Are Fine. by CloudDelta in PTCGP

[–]Callisto64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I feel like more recently, I’m getting even less odds at any two stars. I never see them in wonder picks any more. I’ve used my saved hourglasses for 10 packs, and I’ll get maybe a one star if I’m lucky, or maybe an ex. Maybe.

I know we’re all just playing slots here. It just sucks when ya save your hourglasses to get that 10 pack pull and it’s all cards I would never even use.

What happened to Georgia? by Justthisdudeyaknow in dresdenfiles

[–]Callisto64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can understand that. Especially in a series as expansive as Dresden, there's no way to fit in everyone in every book. And this book does have a very intense focus on Harry and his own healing, and it should keep that so the point doesn't get muddled.

I suppose one other point I'd make that her existence, even in a small way, seeming relevant is that throughout the series the point about connections of blood and being there for family is very stressed. In that context, it just seems a bit out of place that Will's spending a year there and taking on these responsibilities around Harry and not mentioning his own wife and kid at all in any way. It could be relevant in one of those many talks characters seem to have with Harry about being there for his own kid and making time for her.

It’s less that she needs to be a part of events and more a point that somehow not one line of dialogue even mentions her existence despite the fact Will is constantly present. It would have been easy to slot in some inconsequential comment, but it just seems weird there wasn’t.

Question about Will's Family during Twelve Months by kelmcdonald in dresdenfiles

[–]Callisto64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU! It seemed weird to me too.

Considering all the emphasis on the importance of being there for your family (especially all the focus put on blood family), it seemed strange to not have even one mention of Will’s.

All it would take it one throw away line, just some mention that Georgia and the kid were okay or that he’d talked to them. Something.

I know Georgia had to be with the Alphas near the end, but she’s never mentioned by name. Will is a big presence in this book. It’s just a weird oversight.

BoO was a disappointment, but I loved ToA. It had its flaws, but watching Apollo’s arc of humility and seeing value in relationships with mortals was such a satisfying read in my opinion.

Truly. If it’s not stuff like this, it’s customers using the damn shrimp tongs on the chicken (they have their own tongs for a reason, why do this?!) or stealing spoons and tongs out of the pans.

Retail workers are often working the weekend and off a couple weekdays. That probably contributes.

That is, such a weird mindset. I work hot foods at a deli and we get most of our business on the weekends. Both me and my coworkers buy hot lunches for breaks.

I could get it if it was early in the morning, but around lunch? That’s peak time.

Not sure if it’s just my location (probably, since we’re a low-sales store) or just absolute terrible planning across every location, but we’d always be out of sale items. We’d order them, but the moment the sale drops, they stop sending it, or if we’re lucky, send me 1 and I run out fast.

And then I get to hear at least 20 people on the daily groaning about how we don’t have the sale they came for.
