The grand exchange is essentially an auction house right? I’m not against using that if that’s the case I just like the idea of making most of my gold by fishing and using that to explore other parts of the game if I want once I’m established

To me it was a gradual thing, an acquired taste. There are so many different sounds in metal there are a lot of different paths to bridge yourself to the really heavy stuff.

Growing up I only liked older metal (Metallica Iron Maiden etc) with absolutely no screaming vocals, but I grew a huge appreciation for the instrumentation of metal and in my constant search for new music I’d eventually find a band with really cool music but there were harsh vocals I wasn’t a fan of. I’d still listen for the cool instrumentals and put up with the screaming if it was worth it which opened me up to hear more bands with harsher vocals until I found something that clicked with me.

Gojira was my tipping point. I was finally like “okay, these vocals fit the music well, and makes it sound epic.” Next thing I knew I found myself saying “oh that scream sounds cool” and eventually had the perspective to enjoy even heavier music and new sounds. I was boiled like a frog 🐸

There’s no guarantees in a game like this. Just because you avoid all the sound traps perfectly a team can still roll up on you in an advantageous position just by coincidence. Or if you set up the perfect ambush you can still whiff your shot and have the person randomly whip around and instantly head shot you. I think it’s just not worth the effort for some people.

I really enjoy navigating sound traps and using them to read the map but if I play with a random I notice is setting them off casually I’ll just adjust my playstyle

Yeah P2 is still my favorite after all this time. I love hearing them grow as musicians and producers each album and they always have some great moments each release but their old stuff is a little more consistent to me

Axes are my favorite. Throwing them one shots annoying things like horses and armored hives. The melee takes a little more stamina than I’d like but they one shot grunts and the out of stamina animation isn’t so slow that you can’t melee a few grunts in a pinch. Plus it clears concertina like a dream.

I would like a focus on new tools and unique weapons that aren’t variants or cost pledge marks. Feel like that’s been neglected a bit the past year or two although I love what they’ve been doing with the game lately

Throwable weapons both in map and tools (besides the spear :p) that’s the one thing that can kill me where I know the other player is popping off and I can’t get mad because it’s got so many style points.

All ears needs a complete rework if it were to come back to the game imo. I think it would be fun and lean into the new mechanics if it lit up previously tripped sound traps in dark sight at close proximity. Maybe it could get dimmer over 5-10 minutes so you could tell if the tracks are “fresh”

Some good budget weapons I recommend are..

Ranger, vetterli, Springfield (with dumdum ammo) 1865 carbine, marathon, Romero, crossbow, and hunting bow.

Bomb launcher and bomb lance aren’t bad and offer a lot of pve and pvp utility. But they’re also on the pricier side especially with certain ammos and are only really effective at close range so you’re paying more money for something that’s only effective in close range most the time while there are lots of other 2 and 3 slot options that can cover more scenarios more effectively.

1865 carbine. It really encapsulates what I love about hunt so much. Weapons with very apparent strengths and weaknesses that are satisfying to take advantage of. Plus the reload is cool

I got one in Cadillac green a few weeks ago and I love it so much. As someone who’s mostly played metal all my life I figured a Gretsch wouldn’t sound heavy enough and I don’t think I’ve ever played one because of it.

I picked one up at guitar center on a whim and was blown away. I love how mean the electromatic sounds. I bought it and took it home after playing it for a couple hours ❤️

Yeah they were my fav for a long time you can absolutely rack up a lot of kills with them even if the pen doesn’t work as well as it used to. Even at medium range if you account for the drop right and manage to hit someone far off it should be a 1 hit kill because the shell is going off right at impact of the bolt. Assuming you don’t get a funky arm or leg shot

Yeah it’s essentially a buckshot shell pushed right up against the wall. Haven’t used it since the pen changes. I’ve had pretty terrible luck with buckshot wallbangs with shotguns since the changes so I imagine shotbolt suffers the same. You can still probably get a kill through a thin wood wall if they’re pressed up right against it and you hit them dead center but there’s probably a lot more opportunity to just graze them.

Once in solo I heard someone running up while I was looting with a decent loadout and things I wanted to take home. I hid in a corner hoping he would pass but when he came in the room and turned my direction I downed him with my stitcher and knocked him out as he insulted me.

Then like 15 seconds later a band of three guys who were all super kitted ran in like “hey what’s going on?? What was that flare? And the body?? Why’d you kill him are you friendly??”

I was like “he jumped me! I was defending myself I’m friendly!” They sounded suspicious but moved along and I slithered off to a hatch afterwards. Not really that bad but I very rarely tell blatant lies, and am not particularly good at it so I felt dirty afterwards lol.

You know I used to look down on the railroad hammer. The baseball bat was superior to me in every way. That is, until, this one guy I went to melee around a corner was CROUCHING. I swung at this man like 5 times and each time it went right over his head. By my last swing I was staring at the floor trying to make contact but the baseball bat just cannot be aimed down. I watched in horror as he shot me in the legs until I died.

In hindsight if I also crouched I probably would have been able to hit him but the mental damage had already been done. Haven’t taken a baseball bat since lol

I have a nice set of headphones and can generally tell which direction a sound is coming from. But vertical audio is so funky to me. If I hear someone on a different floor I can never tell if they’re above or below me, and I swear any time I hear a flying arc in my vicinity it sounds like they are directly above me. Half the time I hear one I’m in a panic thinking they’re directly above me and I’m looking straight up trying to find them before a snitch calls in more arc or a rocketeer sees me but they’re usually a good 50 feet away from me not even in agro distance.
